Showing Up, Showing Out Showing Up, Showing Out

Attendance Awareness Month | September 2026

Success Starts with Showing Up

Every day at school is an opportunity to learn something new, connect with a teacher or classmate and build on yesterday’s learning. Those days add up.

When students attend school consistently, they benefit from the conversations, explanations, relationships and experiences that bring learning to life. That’s why attendance matters from the first bell to the last day of school.

Every day counts, and together, we can help every student succeed.

KISD Football Heads into Week 2

The first week of KISD football delivered big plays, standout performances and a thrilling Harker Heights comeback win. Now, all five teams turn their attention to Week 2, with plenty of action close to home. Killeen and Ellison renew their crosstown rivalry Thursday night, while Shoemaker, Harker Heights and Chaparral also take the field at KISD stadiums.

Catch up on Week 1 and get the matchups, game times and tickets for the week ahead.

Marching Into a New Season

Friday night football is only the beginning for KISD’s marching bands. Students have spent weeks rehearsing since July, putting together the music, movement and countless moving pieces that bring a marching show to life. Now, with their first performances underway, the bands are preparing for a busy season ahead, including Drums in the Heartland, the 48th annual Spirit Spectacular and UIL marching competition.

See Something Concerning? Let Us Know.

Keeping our schools safe takes all of us. If a student sees or experiences something concerning, whether it involves bullying, threats, weapons or another safety concern, speaking up gives our schools the opportunity to respond and provide support. Students and families can report safety concerns anonymously at www.KISDisSafe.com.
