Math Weekly UpdateWeek of 4/13-4/17

Math 7- Greenberg, Haddock, and Porter

Last week math 7 worked on being able to describe 2-D figures that result from slicing 3-D figures. This week students will work with area and circumference of circles. Students will work with various activities (IXL, Khan,Quizizz, etc.) to practice and we will end the week with a check-in.

Haddock’s office hours have changed to M-F 8:30-9:30

Math 7- Slaughter

Last week students worked on Multi-Step Equations on IXL. This week students will continue reviewing content learned in the first semester. On IXL, students will work on Multi-Step Inequalities so they can remember the difference between Equations and Inequalities.

Math 8- Greenberg

This past week we worked on finding the rate of change from a graph. Students should get instant feedback on how they did on Thursdays (4/16) check-in to see how they understood the learning target. In math 8 we will be working on finding the rate of change from two coordinate points. Students will work with various activities (videos, practice, and google forms) to check their understanding of this learning target.

Math 8- Hill & Hobold

We will complete our study of transformations next week with two DESMOS activities. Students will then begin their study of scatterplots, and should expect exit slips every day for us to “check in’ on their progress, except on Thursday, April 30th, when they have a Scatterplots Target Check.

Math 8- Taylor

We are going to be covering Systems of Equations, Slope, Exponents, Scientific Notation, Functions, Equations, Pythagoras, Angles (2-Dimensional Shapes), Data and Graphs, and Statistics based upon the students learning profile in class. I have placed notes in Google Classroom for each unit for all students.

Algebra- Haddock & Porter

We are going to be starting Chapter 9: Quadratic Equations and Functions. We will be working on section 9-4 (Solving quadratic equations with factoring) for the entire week. Students will use the online textbook, Khan Academy, and IXL to practice skills. They will take a 9-4 formative.

Algebra- Hobold

We are going to continue our study of radical expressions and equations by focusing on simplifying radical expressions.

Algebra- Taylor

We are going to finish the Quadratics Unit next week and start a new unit called Radical Expressions. I will place notes in Google Classroom for the new unit.

Geometry-Hill

We will continue our study of section 8.4. We will quiz on 8.4 Tuesday the 21st. We will start 8.5 Angles of Depression Wednesday, April 22.
