SUPERINTENDENT & PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Hello GLTS Community,
This past Tuesday evening, members of our school's leadership team, along with Superintendent Lavoie, had the wonderful opportunity to present a Teaching and Learning Update to our District Committee. This was a chance for us to share the story of the exciting progress and innovation happening every day in our classrooms and career-technical shops.
We highlighted how our teachers and staff are creating the best possible learning experiences for our students. We were thrilled to share some major successes, including:
National Recognition: The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) recently named GLTS a Featured District for our outstanding work in implementing a new, high-quality math curriculum.
Expanding Opportunities: We have secured a significant CTE Expansion Grant that will allow us to grow our popular Health and Medical programs, creating more spots for interested students and adding new, in-demand career pathways.
These accomplishments are a direct result of the hard work of our entire school community. I am incredibly proud of our students for their engagement and our staff for their dedication. The progress we are making together ensures that GLTS continues to be a place where students are prepared for success in college, career, and life.
If you would like to see the full presentation and learn more about the great things happening at our school, you can view it via the button below.
Thank you for your continued partnership.

Our New Aviation Program Takes Flight!
This past Wednesday, October 15th, was a landmark day for the GLTS community as we celebrated the official grand opening of our state-of-the-art Aviation Program! We were thrilled to welcome local leaders and media to Lawrence Airport and our own campus to showcase this incredible new opportunity for our students.
This program is more than just a new class: it's a direct pathway for students to enter one of Massachusetts's fastest-growing technical fields. Participants will be prepared for high-demand careers in aircraft maintenance and service technology. They will gain hands-on experience, learning the essential skills to inspect, repair, and maintain aircraft.
What does this mean for our students? Upon completing the program, graduates will be uniquely prepared for their next step, whether it is:
Entering the workforce directly as skilled, certified technicians.
Continuing their education at prestigious institutions like the National Aviation Academy or UMass Lowell, which offers a Mechanical Engineering major with a minor in Aerospace Studies.
This amazing achievement was made possible by the vision and hard work of many of our dedicated staff members who worked tirelessly to bring this program to life. A special thank you to all involved!
We are excited to announce an additional late bus option for students who stay after school for extra help or activities.
In addition to our 4:30 PM late buses, we now have buses departing at 3:10 PM.
Here are the details:
Departure Times: 3:10 PM (2 buses) and 4:30 PM (4 buses)
Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays
Pickup Location: At the front of the building
Staying after school is a great opportunity for students to connect with teachers, retake assessments, and get additional academic support. Teachers will post the days they are available for extra help on their classroom whiteboards. We encourage students to speak directly with their teachers to arrange a time to stay.
We hope students will take advantage of this new, convenient option.
