On National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (January 9), we were proud to recognize and thank Officer Joshua Sims for the important role he plays in our school community. Officer Sims does far more than ensure safety—he builds positive relationships with students, supports staff, and helps create a school environment where everyone feels secure and cared for. While he is our SRO District Supervisor, we are grateful for his daily presence, his professionalism, and his commitment to our students and families. Please join us in thanking Officer Sims for his service and dedication to our school.

We want our students to know they are supported—academically and emotionally. If your child is feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, or simply needs someone to talk to, free after-school counseling is available. Sessions are provided by our school counselors, along with counselors from other North Buncombe district schools, in a safe and supportive setting. If you are interested in this opportunity for your child, please complete this google form.

If your 8th grader is attending the DC trip, please see the email from Coach Brown regarding extra opportunities and reminders. The email includes info about extra trip opportunities, roommate sign ups, payment reminders and academic and attendance reminders.

Can you believe it's time to be thinking about high school for your 8th grader? You will be hearing, and receiving, lots of information over the next couple of months regarding high school options and important dates. High school options for students at North Buncombe Middle School include:

In January and February, students will begin hearing from each school with presentations during the school day. Most schools will also have curriculum nights and open houses for parents. Those dates will be shared soon. All 8th graders will tour North Buncombe High School and Nesbitt Discovery Academy. Students who have an interest and/or are selected will tour the other schools.
