Happy Sunday Panthers!
Happy Sunday Panthers!
I hope everyone had a great weekend, and I hope you are ready for another great week! Once again, I want to thank everyone as we continue to make great strides in keeping our students and staff safe and healthy on campus. Our positive test numbers are going down, and people are doing a great job of self-screening. Keep wearing your mask on campus when you are required to, and stay home if you or someone in the family is sick!
NPHS Tutoring Center Is Open For Business!
Does your student need some help with one of their classes? Don't pay for a tutor! Have them attend the NPHS tutoring center at lunch. Student tutors are available during the week under teacher supervision for all students. The schedule is posted below. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Drop and get the help you need!

Keeping Your Eyes On The Prize
Now is the time for you to encourage your child to get off to that strong start and have a great semester 2 in all classes. Here is a reminder of the things your child can be doing each and every day to have a great second half of the year.
- Students should be building a daily academic routine, as part of an overall time management plan.
- Parents can become an observer in CANVAS by following the directions in this link or contacting the counseling office for assistance. Observer Link: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Video-Guide/Canvas-Overview-for-Observers/ta-p/383797
- Students should be taking advantage of new in-person and virtual tutoring for individual tutoring overseen by our NPHS teaching staff. CANVAS Course cards are available to all students. All they have to do is accept the invite to the course card that has all of the information.
- Students should be communicating with their teachers on a consistent basis with any questions, support needed, or access to content.
- We always recommend that students and parents should start with the teacher for questions related to courses students are taking.
- Students need to be participating in the athletic teams, co-curricular groups, clubs, and interest groups that inspire them in order to find the right balance between school work and school involvement.
- Students are able to access our new Wellness Center in room A3 which is staffed by mental health clinicians.
Let's Have A Great Week!
Please take some time to review all the new and important information in the newsletter and review it with your students! Thank you again for all of your support and understanding!
I hope everyone has a great week and let's get one percent better, Panthers!
WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER!

Say Thanks To Our Amazing School Employees
Ventura County education employees are going above and beyond to keep schools operating during the pandemic. And "thank you" is something they don't hear often enough.
That's why Ventura County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. César Morales, is encouraging everyone in the community to post a message of thanks to a school employee on our Wall of Gratitude at www.vcoe.org/thanks. Please take a minute to write a note to that special someone who's making a difference for kids.
You can also read Dr. Morales's own message of gratitude to school employees at this link.

Student Attendance and Welfare Updates
Reporting Absences
If your student is going to miss in person or remote classes for any reason, please call the attendance office at 805-499-3645. La linea en espanol 498-3676 ext. 4000. All absences must be reported to the school by the student's legal guardian. Emails from students are not acceptable to report student absences. Students who miss class are still responsible for any missed work from their teachers and must communicate with their teachers to receive all instructions on how to complete any missing assignments or assessments.
Excessive Absences (9 days of absence on a block schedule, excused or unexcused)
Students will be put on an attendance contract, may be required to appear at a SARB meeting, and may require a doctor’s note to excuse any future absences.
Truancy is defined as being absent without permissible clearance within 72 hours. 9 truancies will result in disciplinary action and may affect a student’s grade.
Covid-19 Safety and Attendance
Families are asked to self-screen themselves each day before coming to school. If a student is sick, please have them stay home for their sake and for other Panthers.
Students are reminded that they must have a mask on covering their mouth and nose at all times when indoors. Students do not need to wear a mask when outdoors. Compliance with teachers and staff is essential to maximize instructional time when on campus.
It is important that all positive cases of COVID-19 are reported to the NPHS health office. If your student tests positive for COVID-19 we need to know in order to ensure we are supporting your student through their recovery. If your student has been exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19 we will assist you with the proper steps to avoid continued transmission and support your student while they are quarantined. No student who tests positive or has been exposed may be on campus during their quarantine period. The health and safety of our student body and staff is a top priority.
Any student who is exhibiting signs or symptoms of COVID-19 will have parent or guardian contacted and will be sent home. If you have any questions or concerns related to COVID-19, please reach out to our office. Teachers will work with students who need to miss school due to illness or exposure to COVID-19. At this time, there is no virtual option for students at NPHS; however, a teacher may opt to use Canvas to deliver work to students who are absent from class.
