On Time Reminder
As the weather improves in our region, now is a good time to remind everyone of our school goal of promptness. School begins at 8 AM. We have defined this within our learning community as students being in their classrooms with instruction started. Supervision is provided on the playground for morning play beginning at 7:40 AM. We aim to come into the building around 7:52 AM (dependent on weather conditions.) From a teacher’s perspective, it is important to have everyone with us to begin the school day. As we spring into March, I ask that we all recommit to this goal of timeliness. Thank you!
Parent Party: SUCCESS!
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our lovely Bulldogs at Friday’s parent party! Thank you to our sponsors!
Thank you to our party planning committee:
Kimberly Swarbrick, Kacie Ruggio, Danielle Beardsley, Hagar Duel, Megan Gidcumb, Mandy Kirk, Alison Ortale, and Kourtney Sellers! Your creative minds made this incredible evening come to life! We appreciate all of you :)
We raised over $40,000 thanks to the generosity of our amazing Roslyn community. Can’t wait to see you all next year!
5 Essentials Impact Survey
Each year the state of Illinois elicits feedback from staff, parents, and students in 4th-5th grades on the quality of our school. This survey is called the 5Essentials survey. Students in 4th-5th grades will be taking the survey in their classrooms on March 6. More information will be forthcoming from classroom teachers.
The window for the parent component is now open and can be accessed through this link. Please take a few minutes between today and the end of next month to give your input on Roslyn Road. This is an important metric in our state school report card and your feedback is important to us.
The survey closes March 28.
Spring Parent Teacher Conferences
Spring parent-teacher conference will be held on Wednesday, March 19 and Thursday, March 20. There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, March 21 and spring break begins Monday, March 24. The “Meet the Teacher” portal for spring conferences is now open. A reminder to ONLY schedule with those teachers that you wish to conference with in the spring.
Traffic Line Safety at School
A reminder about courtesy and safety in the traffic line. We need to remember to drive with the utmost caution around our school. I am requesting that everyone re-commit to our shared desire for safety around our school:
Mind the speed limits in our parking lot and in the neighborhood.
Always give pedestrians the right of way and be cognizant of children around you.
It is helpful to school personnel if you place a sign with your child’s first and last names in your vehicle’s windshield. This keeps the line moving efficiently.
Please be courteous in the arrival and pick-up lines and pull all the way to the picnic area as directed by school personnel. DO NOT weave in/out of the line. If all drivers continue to pull up, the line will move quickly.
Load/unload quickly at arrival and dismissal so the process works efficiently while staying safe.
Snow Gear Reminder
Snow Gear Reminder: In order to play in the snow students must have protective gear: winter jacket, boots, SNOW PANTS (these can be any pullover pants that have some water resistance), hats and gloves. Recess is at the middle of the school day and we want our students dry and ready to learn when they come inside from winter fun! In addition, we go outside for recess until a “feel like temperature” of 0 degrees and below! A change of clothing to be stored in the cubby is always a good idea. Proper attire helps to keep you warm too!
