Welcome to the 2025-2026
We are excited to welcome you all to another exciting school year. Our faculty and staff are here to ensure student learning takes place.
Jose Lopez, M. Ed
Dear Hornet Parents,
We hope you and your family are doing well! As we move further into October, we’re filled with excitement for Homecoming Week and all the spirit, pride, and celebration it brings to our Hornet community. Thank you for your continued support—your involvement, whether it’s ensuring good attendance, helping with homework, or cheering on our students, makes a tremendous difference in their success and the positive energy on our campus.
Trunk or Treat
Join us for Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 29 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Families are encouraged to dress up and enjoy a fun, safe evening together on campus. It’s always a great time to connect, laugh, and celebrate with our school family.
Important Forms
Please make sure all Back to School Forms are completed to keep your child’s information up to date. Having accurate information ensures we can provide the best support, communication, and resources for every student.
Attendance Matters
Regular attendance is key to learning, building friendships, and developing positive habits. Please help us by ensuring your child is at school every day and on time. Consistent attendance keeps students on track academically and socially while fostering a strong sense of responsibility.
Quick Reminders
• Tardy Policy: Students should arrive on time each morning.
• School IDs: Must be worn daily for safety.
• Game Attendance: Students in grades K–8 must be accompanied by an adult at all games.
• Personal Devices: Should remain put away during the school day.
Get Involved
We invite you to connect with our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to help make school events and programs a success. Your participation strengthens our school community and creates more meaningful opportunities for students.
Thank you for being part of the Alice Johnson Jr. High family. We’re grateful for your partnership and support as we celebrate Homecoming Week and continue working together to make this school year an amazing one for our Hornets!
Sincerely,
Jose Lopez

This week, we’re celebrating Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign that encourages students across the country to live drug-free, healthy, and positive lives. Red Ribbon Week is a time to take a stand against drugs and make a commitment to ourselves, our friends, and our community to make safe choices every day.
This year, we’re combining Red Ribbon Week with our exciting Homecoming Spirit Week! That means we’re celebrating school pride and healthy living altogether. As we show off our school spirit through our daily themes and activities, let’s also remember the message behind Red Ribbon Week—we can have fun, be confident, and achieve our goals without drugs.
Let’s make this week one to remember—full of school spirit, positive choices, and unity!
The PTO is looking all parents to participate in Trunk or Treat. Wether it is by volunteering with the food, facilitating games, or working the haunted house, we need YOUR help.
If you want to volunteer please email our PTO: ptoajjh@gmail.com

Please help us ensure your child is aware of the new state policies!
Beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, we will start enforcing student ID requirements.
We want to ensure that all parents and students are aware of our campus tardy policy.
Slight changes have been made the to the bell schedule.
The goals of this revision are to (1) reduce hallway congestion during transitions and (2) streamline the day by reducing the total number of bells. The updated bell schedule is attached below.
Student Arrival and Dismissal
ENTRANCE
Parents are not allowed to walk students to their class.
Doors will open at 8:00 am.
Car-riders/walkers will enter through the bus ramp doors.
CAR RIDERS
There will be TWO lanes open for the car rider line.
Please DO NOT drop off students prior to the drop-off zone.
Staff members will direct traffic and guide vehicles to the designated drop off/pick up zones.
To ensure our students are safe, please DO NOT drop off or pick up students from the staff parking lot. We do not want our students crossing the walkway in front of moving vehicles.
WALKERS
Walkers will enter/exit through the bus ramp doors.

Student Hornet Policies
Attention Parents:
We want to ensure that all students are aware of our campus policies and expectations. We have attached the student hornet policies for you to review with your children.
Please be sure to take a look at the dress code, as we have students that have been out of dress code.
English: Hornet Policies
Spanish: Las Políticas De Los Hornets
We are aware that our hornet students want to show their pride at athletic events and we want them to attend as many as possible!
As per the new Channelview Athletic Regulations, students attending games on campus- both Elementary & Middle School must be accompanied by a supervising adult and remain seated with them at all times.
We understand that this is different from previous year, but it is important that we communicate this with you all.
We hope that with your collaboration we can inform all of our students of this new policy!
