Bethel the Beautiful
Week of October 19
Thank You for a Fantastic First Nine Weeks!
This first 9 weeks has gone so fast! I want to say thank you to all of our families for being so supportive and wonderful. We truly appreciate all you do to make Bethel such a wonderful place!! Here's to a great rest of the year!
Blue Paw Trip - 2nd-5th
It's hard to believe the first 9 weeks is ending on the 21st and our first Blue Paw celebration is here. I have included the Blue Paw requirements and your child's teacher can let you know if you have any questions. Here's a few additional pieces of information to know:
- Blue Paw starts over every 9 weeks, so if your child didn't make it this 9 weeks, they totally can next 9 weeks!
- Attendance is really important. Many of our students aren't able to attend due to tardies, checkouts and absences. These started accumulating on the first day of school.
- It's not easy to make Blue Paw. Students have to be on their best behavior doing things the Bethel Way and be here in attendance to make it
- Blue Paw for the Year will receive a pin at the end of the year. To get Blue Paw for the year, students have to make it 3 out of the 4 nine weeks.
Blue Paw Permission Slip Information
See information from Lake Logan if your Child is Attending
Blue Paw permission slips are going home. Please sign that permission slip, but also read the disclosure from Lake Logan so when you sign our permission slip, you are also agreeing to their disclosure. We will be playing field games such as kickball, wiffle ball, soccer, etc. We will also have organized games and activities for students to participate in that prefer something different to play. Please note that the disclosure is written in this fashion for groups that come to use their tall tower, ropes course and lake/creek fishing activities. We will only be using the field to play games, not any of their equipment or things could be dangerous for students to use. It's a big open field and will be fun to use to play on and regardless of if you are using the equipment or not, the release has to be read and agreed to.

For the next couple weeks, we will be working on ghost digraphs for our phonics pattern.
Ghost digraphs (also called ghost letter digraphs) are letter combinations in English phonics where two letters work together to make a single sound, and one of the letters is silent. This week we will be doing "kn".
Pig Race π·- October 27
If your child sold two or more boxes of chocolate will attend the event and if they sold 3 or more they get to silly string Mrs. Watson!! This will be on October 27 at 1:45 pm in the gym. It's always a lot of fun and we truly do appreciate all of you that sold chocolate and made this such a huge success!!!
Literacy Pictures of the Week
Check out writing from a 4th and 5th grader!
Roman Peddie, 4th grader in Mrs. Worley's class, wrote about his learning of the Middle Ages and the role of a craftsman. Students are working on transitional phrases and taking their important information and details and forming a strong paragraph. Way to go Roman!!
Emmalyn Wilson, 5th grade student in Ms. Parsons' class, used a TIDE organizer and typed her paper titled, The Most Magical Christmas Ever. Students in upper grades are working on their typing skills. Nothing more exciting than getting a puppy for Christmas!
