What an amazing display of talent from our fabulous students in the play adaptation of Holes!

From a mesmerizing a cappella performance to powerful dramatic moments, our students kept the entire audience captivated from beginning to end. We are incredibly proud of the cast, crew, and the fantastic team of teachers—Mrs. Keko, Mrs. Nava, and Ms. Bowen—for bringing this production to life.

This Week in ELA:

This week in ELA, students worked on wrapping up their study of I Am Malala and Malala’s Nobel Lecture. While classrooms may be completing slightly different activities, all students are engaging in an argumentative task to demonstrate their understanding of the texts. Students are using evidence from both the memoir and the speech to develop claims about Malala’s message, particularly her views on education, equality, and the role of media.

This work allows students to practice critical thinking, text analysis, and writing skills as they prepare to share and defend their ideas.

📚 6th Grade Book Clubs Week 5

This week, students focused on the resolution and theme of their novels. They reflected on whether their earlier predictions were accurate and analyzed how the main conflict was resolved. Students discussed which characters changed the most and evaluated whether the ending was satisfying.

In addition, students worked together to identify the theme of their books by thinking about the big ideas, key events, and lessons the author is communicating. They supported their thinking with evidence from the text and made real-life connections to deepen their understanding.

It was great to see students engaging in thoughtful discussions as they wrapped up their books and prepared for their final projects. Additional information about the culminating project will be provided next week.
