Please complete this two-minute, anonymous MA Safe Routes to School Family Travel Survey and if half our school's families participate, Green Meadow will be awarded a safety incentive package from the state. Purple Pinky Day Purple Pinky Day

Help Eradicate Polio Worldwide!

The National Honor and National Junior Honor Societies of Maynard Public Schools in conjunction with Nashoba Valley Rotary Club and Middlesex Savings Bank are hosting Purple Pinky Day on Thursday, October 23rd.

Purple Pinky Day is a fundraiser in which families across the United States give $1.00, or whatever they think is best, to pay for inoculating kids in developing countries where Polio still exists. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation matches $2 for every $1 raised, so your money will go even further. It costs $1 to inoculate one child. Your dollar, coupled with the matching funds, will help ensure that 3 children are protected against Polio. 100% of the funds collected here in Maynard will be donated to the campaign to eradicate Polio.

The fundraiser’s name, Purple Pinky Day, comes from the practice of developing countries marking the children’s pinkies purple upon receiving the oral vaccine. Many children like to get back in line for a second dose of the flavorful vaccine, and the purple dye helps the adults keep track of who has been inoculated. Last year, the Maynard Public Schools raised over $600, and the children learned a little more about Polio and vaccination. Donations would be greatly appreciated again this year.

Purple Pinky Day – Please wear purple and if you are able, please bring $1.00 to donate on Thursday, October 23rd!

Creating and maintaining social boundaries for ourselves, both physical and emotional, is a form of self care. When children learn to set boundaries for themselves and respect those of others, they feel comfortable and safe. This article and accompanying video offer tips for how to teach kids about boundaries. Better yet, dive into this fun picture book, My Boundaries Matter, with your child, or turn up the volume on this catchy song, That's a Boundary! Questions or feedback? Please contact Julie Danforth at jdanforth@maynard.k12.ma.us.

Green Meadow Playground Reminder Green Meadow Playground Reminder

Please remember that our school playground must remain closed during arrival and dismissal times each day to ensure student safety.

We have four buses and four vans that need to safely enter and exit the bus circle. When families use the playground during these times, other students often run over to join them, sometimes into the path of buses or vans. During dismissal, our staff’s full attention is on making sure all students are safely dismissed, so we ask that parents and guardians closely supervise children who have already been dismissed.

If you would like to enjoy some outdoor play after school, the Fowler School playground is available for families to use.

Thank you for helping us keep all students safe!

We are Hiring! We are Hiring!

We are hiring Special Education Paraprofessionals to work with our educational team. In this role, applicants may support one to four students across school settings with academic skills, social skills, transitions, and school access. Special Education Paraprofessionals are part of a team of educators that include general education teachers, special education teachers, service providers, and other paraprofessionals. This is a great full-time opportunity for anyone in a graduate program looking to gain experience before moving into an educational role after graduation. Interested applicants should email Kate Murray at kmurray@maynard.k12.ma.us.

Looking for temporary work? We are hiring a Kindergarten Paraprofessional Long-term Substitute to work in one of our classrooms from 10/27 - 1/16. Please email Karen Lindquist at klindquist@maynard.k12.ma.us.

The Maynard Public Schools anticipates hiring Daily Substitutes for the 2025-2026 school year. This role provides flexibility. Daily Substitutes can determine which days, which grade-levels, and which of the three schools they would like to work in. For more information, please email Kate Murray, kmurray@maynard.k12.ma.us, or Colleen Andrade, candrade@maynard.k12.ma.us.
