PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Thursday, April 2nd
I hope everyone enjoyed the break last week! It was wonderful to hear all the students' share their spring break stories and to see their faces again!
We were happy to celebrate and say a huge THANK YOU to our amazing teaching assistants on Wednesday for "Paraprofessional Appreciation Day"! Mrs. Kozlik, Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Kownick do so much for our students and we are so grateful for them! Some of our teachers generously covered their recess shifts so they could enjoy a lunch break together! We love getting the chance to celebrate our fantastic teaching assistant team!
Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow (Friday, April 3rd) Please enjoy the long weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!
Thank you,
Ellie Chin

26-27 SCHOOL YEAR PARENT/GUARDIAN FEEDBACK FORM (2nd POST!)
Below you will find a form you can fill out should you like to provide the school with any information you feel would be important as we consider class placement for your child(ren). Please know that the placement process for all Patton students is extensive and well thought out. To that end, it is important to understand that requests for a specific teacher will not be considered, as allowing parents to request teachers puts a significant strain on an already extensive process. Please do not make friend requests for your child as it is not possible to honor all of these requests. All staff members are committed to providing the best education for your children.
This form is to be completed by FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2026. Please complete one form for each child. Please do not send separate emails as this google form is intended to consolidate all information in one place. Sending separate emails increases the possibility of your feedback not being included in this process.
Thank you so much for partnering with us on this front. Once we begin our process, it is difficult to give new information equal consideration so we appreciate your understanding that FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2026 is a hard deadline.
SPRING SAFETY DRILLS (2nd POST!)
Please be aware that we have 2 Safety Drills taking place in April. Please try to avoid early pickups/late drop offs on these days.
Wednesday, April 8th - Bus Evacuation Drill
Friday, April 10th - Spring Lockdown Drill in partnership with the Arlington Heights Police Department. Please do not be alarmed if you see police presence at Patton.
GYM, RECESS AND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES (2nd POST!)
Excusing Children from PE - Physical Education
Parents may request that their child be excused from Physical Education for one day due to a medical reason. Any absence beyond one day requires a physician’s note.
For elementary students, physician orders must clearly state any restrictions for both Physical Education and Recess. Students who are unable to participate in Physical Education may not participate in school-sponsored sports clubs during that time.
Excusing Children from Outdoor Activities / Recess
Elementary students regularly participate in outdoor activities during Physical Education classes, daily recess, and the lunch period. For the safety of all students, children are expected to go outside during these times unless there is a documented medical reason. If your child needs to remain indoors, a physician’s note is required that specifically states the outdoor restriction.
After School Activities and Events
Students absent from classes on the day of an extracurricular event may not be allowed to participate in that day’s activities or event. Prior planning by parents and school helps eliminate any such conflicts.
5th GRADE - THOMAS MIDDLE SCHOOL MIXER (FINAL POST!)
Calling all 5th Graders - Our Next Future TMS Mixer is Set!
Join us at Get Air Trampoline Park on FRIDAY, APRIL 10th from 6:30pm - 8:00pm to mix and mingle with other AHSD25 students who will be attending Thomas Middle School next year!
The Arlington Heights Council PTA invites you to our Spring 5th Grade Mixer event! Join us for a low-key, high-fun night designed especially for our incoming middle schoolers! We’re heading to Get Air for cosmic lights, great music, and plenty of time to jump, laugh, and connect with new classmates. There will also be a creative crafting station for anyone who needs a break from bouncing, plus a snack to keep everyone fueled. This is a drop-off event, giving students a chance to build independence while making new friends in a safe and supervised environment. Cost is $20. We want all students to be able to attend. If finances are a concern, please reach out to your school’s social worker.
