2025-2026 Bearcat Blast

The Aledo Growth Committee (AGC) is working with the district to explore what high school learning should look like for future generations of Aledo students. Rather than simply asking when a second high school will be built, the AGC is considering how Aledo ISD can design learning spaces that prepare students for the next 50+ years.

Two concepts are being developed: a College and Career Academy, which would provide advanced academics and career-focused opportunities for all high school students, and a second comprehensive high school, similar to Aledo High School but with modernized, flexible learning environments.

While no bond proposal is being planned, the AGC’s goal is to create conceptual designs for both options so the district is ready when growth demands new high school space.

Students and staff from across Aledo ISD celebrated Veterans on Veterans Day this week! Take a look at this quick recap of some of their performances and see below some other ways our students honored Veterans this week!

We are honored to share with you an award-winning essay by Aledo Middle School 7th grader Peter Walsh. Peter submitted this essay to a local VFW Patriot's Pen Essay contest after his teacher's grandfather-in-law, who is a veteran, spoke to his English class and helped inspire his writing. Peter's essay will now move on to a national contest!

No matter what happens from here, we are inspired by Peter's words and hope you will be, too!

663 letters and an extraordinary lesson learned through another exceptional experience in Aledo ISD!

In October, 5th-grade students from across the district wrote to Veterans who are currently at Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio. The students learned about the contributions and sacrifices of veterans in class and then wrote letters of gratitude and appreciation for Veterans Day - a combined lesson for both their Reading-Language Arts and Social Studies classes.

The Weatherford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution donated the stationary and facilitated the delivery of the letters; and the DAR has reported back that, "there are going to be some very happy people at the hospital when they receive these letters. They were well written."

We hope these letters bring a smile to the faces of the Veterans who receive them; we want to wish them all a Happy Veterans Day and thank them for their sacrifices.

Just a few more days until we all get to enjoy Thanksgiving Break Nov. 21-30 (students are off Friday, Nov. 21, so for 10-straight days!) ... so ATTENDANCE MATTERS the week before Thanksgiving! We're so excited to start the break on a high note with our awesome annual Aledo Reads event at all of our campuses on Thursday, Nov. 20. We'll have guest readers and the chance to cozy up to a good book throughout the day for all students in Aledo ISD. Don't miss school and miss out!

51 AMS Band students participated in the All-Region Band Audition process last week. The auditions are highly competitive, with over 1,500 students from 40+ middle schools auditioning. We are incredibly proud of ALL the students who auditioned for representing their school, community, and the AMS band program with preparation, poise, and class. Congratulations to the students who earned a spot in the Region 30 All-Region Band!
