Walk with Jesus Our Living Hope Walk with Jesus Our Living Hope

September 11, 2020

Dear Families,

The buildings were full of life this week and it was so nice to hear the children's voices floating through the hallways again! While a lot of the protocols and expectations are new to our staff and students, they have worked really hard to learn them and adhere to them. The next few weeks will allow us to get better at the routines with practice, such as hand washing.

The Health and Screening Student From is attached to the bottom of this newsletter. Please ensure that you continue to assess your child(ren) daily before coming to school. It is not necessary to send a copy to the school.

Prayer for Parents and Students

Loving God,

You are the giver of all we possess,
the source of all of our blessings.
We thank and praise you.

Thank you for the gift of our children.
Help us to set boundaries for them,
and yet encourage them to explore.
Give us the strength and courage to treat each day as a fresh start.

May our children come to know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

May your Holy Spirit help them to grow
in faith, hope, and love, so they may know peace, truth, and goodness.

May their ears hear your voice.
May their eyes see your presence in all things.
May their lips proclaim your word.
May their hearts be your dwelling place.
May their hands do works of charity.
May their feet walk in the way of Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord.
Amen.

What's New? What's New?

Reminders for Next Week

Please remember that parents are not to enter the building with their children in the mornings. We need to limit the number of people in the hallway to allow for physical distancing between learning groups.

Parents are able to walk their children to the roped off area and staff will direct the students where to line up. Alternatively, you may also drop your children off using the "drive thru" lane. Please be reminded that parents are to remain in the car and only allow the students to come out on one side of the vehicle for safety. The playground is closed first thing in the morning and after school.

The school bell rings at 8:40 for teachers to go out and collect their students but outdoor supervision is available from 8:30am. After school, students will be brought out by their teacher by 2:55 pm. If you are allowing your child to meet you in the parking lot or to walk home from school. Please email the classroom teacher.

Recess

As you know, the playground has been divided into five large areas and the students must stay in the designated area for the day. Two classes are paired in the play area. It will always be same pairings as we are keeping the learning groups consistent and under 60 people (as per the information sent out in our FAQ in August). They will NOT be combined for any other activities. At this time, students cannot cross over into another area to play so that we can continue to monitor the numbers. Students are able to bring soccer balls to play with on the field or on the blacktop.

When the Weather Changes

When the weather does start changing, please ensure your child is ready for "West Coast" recesses. It is important for the students to get outside in the fresh air. Outdoor shoes would be very helpful especially as their class may be designated to the field that recess.

Lates

If your child arrives late and and their class is no longer on the black top area, they must sign in at the office. They will need to press the buzzer at the front of the main building, come in and wash their hands and get a late slip from the office. This will let their teacher know that they have checked in and completed the hand washing protocol.

Temporary Transition Option Plans

For those of you who opted to take the temporary transition plans, you will be able to pick up your first package on Sept 18. Please note that we do have picture day scheduled for the in-person students but will have a retake day planned after the first re-entry date of Oct 13.
