A Note from the Nurse
Cold and Flu Season is upon us! Please review when to keep your child home:
Temperature equal or > than 100.0: Must be fever free for 24 hours without use of tylenol/motrin.
Strep throat: May return to school after 24 hours of taking prescribed antibiotics.
Vomiting or diarrhea: May return to school once symptom free for 24 hours and have eaten regular food without stomach upset or other GI symptoms.
Undiagnosed rashes: Contact your medical provider for an evaluation before sending to school. A note from your healthcare provider that they are not contagious may be required.
Severe colds and coughs: If your student cannot control/contain their secretions then they should stay home from school. You should contact your medical provider for any persistent cough/cold symptoms.
Conjunctivitis (also known as "pink eye"): Students may return to school after 24 hours of treatment with antibiotic eye medication and when their symptoms have improved.
There have been confirmed cases of head lice in several of our Natick Public School buildings. While head lice can be a nuisance, it is not a significant health concern. Please click to review the NPS policy on head lice (pediculosis). Our NPS nurses support policy that is grounded in evidence-based research rather than stigma or fear. Please remember that it is the parents/guardians responsibility to conduct regular checks of their students' hair, to begin AAP-approved treatment if any nits or lice are found, and to notify close contacts. In most cases, an infestation has likely been present for several weeks before detection.
**4th grade families who haven't yet submitted an updated health form of a physical completed after 9/1/24 please do so as soon as possible. Please send it to me at bnaser@natickps.org or send in a hard copy

Things To Know
LOST AND FOUND TO BE DONATED:
Our lost and found items will be donated over Thanksgiving Break. Our teachers will be sure students have time and opportunity to check the rack, but we also encourage families who are missing items to stop by the front office between 8:45 and 2pm to do their own browsing!
4TH GRADE FAMILIES- TURKEY TROT INFORMATION:
We are excited to announce Lilja School's annual Turkey Trot Fun Run. This run is for students in the 4th grade. Over the past 2 1/2 months, the 4th graders have been using GPS watches to track their distance, time, pace, average pace, and heart rate. At the end of each run, the students record their data and monitor their progress from class to class to become better runners. The classrooms extend each run by 30 seconds the following class to help improve the students’ aerobic fitness levels. They are now up to more than 10 minutes of continuous running and they are ready for the Turkey Trot Fun Run! This event teaches the students about goal setting, motivation, the importance of aerobic fitness, perseverance, taking pride in their accomplishments, and school unity.
This year’s Fun Run will be on Wednesday, November 26TH at 11:00 a.m. The students will have a choice to run either 2 or 3 laps around Sargent Field and Lilja school. Spectators can spread out along Sargent field to show support!
Please note: All students will return to their classrooms at the conclusion of the Turkey Trot. We encourage all 4th grade parents to wait until dismissal to get their child/children. This will help ease congestion in the office and parents will avoid long lines and wait times.
Thank you for making this year’s Turkey Trot one to remember!
