Presidents Day & Special Guest Speaker on Tuesday

2/15/26

Dear Wildcat Students and Families,

This Monday, February 16, our nation observes Presidents Day, a federal holiday honoring the leadership and legacy of those who have served as President of the United States. As a result, students will not have school on Monday.

While our building will be quieter without students, our teachers and staff will be hard at work preparing engaging lessons and meaningful learning experiences for everyone’s return on Tuesday, February 17. We are excited to welcome our Wildcats back, recharged and ready to learn.

We are especially thrilled to share that on Tuesday morning we will host Trustee Alex Okafor as a guest speaker in honor of Black History Month. Mr. Okafor is a former NFL defensive end who played for the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Kansas City Chiefs, where he was part of the Super Bowl LIV championship team. Before his professional career, he earned All-American honors playing for the Texas Longhorns.

Mr. Okafor’s story begins right here in Pflugerville ISD. A graduate of Pflugerville High School, he helped lead the Panthers to a state championship and was also recognized for excellence in the classroom. Since then, he has remained deeply committed to giving back to our community through literacy initiatives, mentorship, and advocacy for students and families.

During his visit, Mr. Okafor will speak with our students in the cafeteria about perseverance, opportunity, education, and the power of community support. We are incredibly proud to welcome him to share his time and message with our Wildcats.

Enjoy the long weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday for what promises to be an inspiring day.

With Wildcat Pride,

Dr. Emily R. Delgado
Principal, Westview Middle School

Successful 5th Grade Invasion! Successful 5th Grade Invasion!

🐾 5th Grade Invasion a Big Success! 🐾

On February 6, we were thrilled to welcome our future Wildcats to campus for our annual 5th Grade Invasion! Each year, our rising 6th graders travel by bus from their elementary schools to get their first real look at life at Westview.

Students had the opportunity to explore our campus, meet staff, experience the energy of our school community, and begin picturing themselves as middle school students. By the time they headed back to their elementary campuses, they left with a strong understanding of who we are, what we value, and how excited we are to welcome them into our Wildcat Pride next school year.

We love sharing the amazing things happening at WVMS! Be sure to check out the video linked below that highlights our students, programs, and the spirit that makes Westview such a special place.

We can’t wait to see these future Wildcats back in our halls soon!

Track Season is Underway

Track season is officially underway! Our Wildcats kicked things off with a combined meet on February 11 at CMS and we are proud of the effort and sportsmanship our athletes are already showing.

We had some outstanding performances to celebrate: Sarah Adelman earned 1st place in both the 2400m and 1600m races. Jane Morgan took 1st place in Girls Discus, and Louvan Becker brought home 1st place in Boys Discus. Congratulations to these athletes for representing WVMS with excellence! Overall the first meet was a great learning experience for all.

This week, the team will practice after school on Tuesday. All athletes should be picked up promptly at 5:00 p.m.

Our next meet is Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at BMS. We hope to see our families and fans there to cheer on our Wildcats!

🎉 Cheer Team Championship Celebration 🎉

We are beyond excited to share that our WVMS Cheer Team brought home 1st place in their division AND were named Grand Champions in the School Division at the Redline Southern Showdown in Cedar Park! These incredible athletes outperformed four other teams on their way to victory.

They didn’t just win banners and rings — be sure to check out their new championship jackets when they wear them to school on Tuesday!

The team scored an outstanding 89.78, and we could not be more proud of the way they represented Westview with spirit, class, and determination.

When you see these athletes, be sure to congratulate them — they earned it!

Now we eagerly wait to hear if they received a bid to Kalahari Super Nationals in May. Stay tuned!

Go Wildcats!!!!

🎶 Choir Field Trip Spotlight 🎶

Our WVMS Choir recently had the incredible opportunity to attend Austin Opera’s production of Fiddler on the Roof at the beautiful Long Center for the Performing Arts.

Students had a wonderful time experiencing live professional theater and fully appreciated the extraordinary talent, musicianship, and storytelling on display. Opportunities like this help bring classroom learning to life and inspire our students as performers and audience members alike.

We are so proud of the way our Wildcats represented Westview while enjoying a memorable day in the arts!

📱 Cell Phone Reminder

At Westview Middle School, our goal is to maintain a focused, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. As a reminder, cell phones are not allowed to be seen or used during the school day. This includes hallways, classrooms, and common areas.

To support consistency across the district, we will be following the PfISD Cell Phone Consequence Ladder for any violations:

OffenseConsequence

1st OffenseDevice confiscated — must be picked up by a parent or guardian.

2nd OffenseDevice confiscated and lunch detention assigned (documented in Skyward).

3rd OffenseDevice confiscated, ½ day of ISS, and a parent meeting required.

Chronic IssuesMay result in a full day of ISS, a behavior plan, or a temporary ban on bringing the device to school.

We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home. When students are free from distractions, they can better focus, engage, and succeed in their learning.

💜 Go Wildcats — focused and ready to learn!

New Transportation Badge System

Beginning this month, the PfISD Transportation Department will introduce a new Transportation Badge System for students who ride the school bus. This system is designed to make transportation even safer and more efficient for our Wildcats.

Students who ride the bus will receive a new ID badge from the transportation department. They will simply scan their badge when getting on and off the bus, allowing district staff to ensure students are always on the correct bus and helping families stay informed. This system helps prevent mix-ups and gives everyone greater peace of mind—nothing more, and nothing to worry about.

These new badges are multi-purpose, too! Students will be able to:

  • Access breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria

  • Check out books in the library

  • Wear the badge daily as part of our regular school ID expectations

If your child does not ride the bus, they will continue using their current school badge, and no changes are needed.

We appreciate your partnership as we roll out this helpful system that supports student safety and smooth daily routines for all.

Lunch Visits with Your Wildcat Lunch Visits with Your Wildcat

We love seeing our Wildcat families join their students for lunch! Families are always welcome to bring outside food and enjoy lunch with their child at our picnic tables. These moments mean so much to our students, and we truly enjoy having our families here on campus.

If you would like to have lunch with your child, simply stop by the front office when you arrive. Our staff will call your student out of the cafeteria, and you can briefly sign them out and back in once lunch is finished. It’s a simple process, and a wonderful way to stay connected with your child during the school day.

We hope to see you at lunch soon!

⏰ Tardy Update: Way to Go, Wildcats!

We’re proud to share that our students have been doing a much better job getting to class on time! Thank you to all of our families for supporting this effort — your partnership makes a big difference. When students arrive to class promptly, they are more engaged, prepared, and ready to learn from bell to bell.

While we’re celebrating this progress, please remember that we are still issuing consequences for excessive tardies according to our campus Tardy Consequence Ladder:

# of Tardies

Consequence

91 Day After-School Detention

122 Days After-School Detention + Parent Conference

15 or more1 Day of In-School Suspension (ISS)

Thank you for continuing to encourage your student to be on time every day. Every minute in class counts toward their success!
