FINAL DAY - SWS Student Council

Sponsored by the SWS Student Council

We are selling miniature plushie sea creatures for Valentine’s Day. Each plushie is about 4 inches in size and includes a note card that reads, "It is easy to SEA that you're a friend to me!" They cost $3.00 each. Please fill out the Google Form below to place your order(s) by Friday, January 17th. Once we receive your Google Form order, we will send home an invoice. Please return the invoice with payment no later than Friday, January 24th. We can accept cash or checks made out to the Sandyston-Walpack Student Council.

Click here for the Google Order Form.

The council members will fill out the note card and deliver your order during school on Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14th. In the event that your child receives more than one plushie, we will do our best to avoid duplicate sea creature plushies.

Thank you so much for your support and for spreading the love this Valentine’s Day!

Feel free to email any questions to Lisa Yanecko- lyanecko@sandystonwalpack.org

Girls on the Run Interest Survey

Girls on Run Interest Survey for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls

The PTO is considering the opportunity to bring a Girls on the Run program to our school and would like to gauge interest before moving forward with board approval. This incredible program not only inspires girls of all abilities to recognize their unique strengths but also fosters a sense of connection and teamwork. Through lessons that combine physical activity with life skill development, participants gain tools to navigate challenges and build confidence. The season culminates in a 5K event, which gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment.

Here are some details about the program:

  • The program runs for 10 weeks and includes two 90-minute practices each week.
  • The program fee is $225 per participant.
  • Each participant will need a sponsor to run/walk the final 5K event with them. Sponsors will have an additional fee of approximately $20–$30 (final amount TBD).
  • There will be a practice 5K followed by the final 5K event at the end of the program.

To ensure the program is well-supported, Mrs. Tanzola, Mrs. Papp, and Mrs. Green have already completed 4 hours of online certification and will complete an additional 4-hour in-person training session in February. They will also become CPR and First Aid certified, and all necessary background checks will be completed.

The PTO would appreciate serious inquiries by February 23rd so they can determine the level of interest and finalize planning. Please note the deadline for full refunds is March 2nd. If you are interested in your child participating in this program, please let us know by filling out this online form form or reaching out to us directly. Your feedback will help us decide whether to officially launch this program at our school. hank you for your time and consideration. We are excited about the possibility of bringing this enriching experience to our students! Questions, please reach out to Allison Green at alisongreen921@yahoo.com.

SWS Talent Showcase 2025

SWS Talent Showcase 2025

SWS is excited to invite students to participate in our SWS Talent Showcase on Friday, March 28th, 2025. We are holding an initial interest meeting on Tuesday, January 21st, during lunch. For students to attend this meeting and join the talent showcase, the following must be completed:

  • Return the bottom portion of the permission slip that went home Monday to the main office OR complete the online form
  • If your child cannot attend this meeting, but is still interested, please email Talent Showcase Advisor Mr. Joe Nicolaro at jnicolaro@sandystonwalpack.org.

Following are some initial guidelines for student performers. Please consider these requirements when deciding if and how students will be participating.

  • Pending participant totals, time limits may be instituted, requiring performances to be 3 minutes or less.
  • Solos and groups of 6 or less will be permitted.
  • Each student may only participate in one performance.
  • The advisor must first approve performances, costumes, props, and music.
  • To properly prepare, performances may need to be practiced on your own time. School rehearsals should be for fine-tuning and acclimation to the performing environment. At least one regular practice and the dress rehearsal must be attended. However, multiple practices are encouraged.
  • A practice schedule will be created once all applications are submitted; these will occur on Tuesdays at 3:15pm.
  • Students interested in Stage Crew must be in grades 3-6.

All applications must be completed and submitted to Mr. Joe Nicolaro by February 11 for approval.
