A Message from the Principal

Dear JSC Community,

It has been a few weeks since our last edition of the JSC Weekly Wave Newsletter. We took an unexpected hiatus, but are excited to report that the Weekly Wave is back and will be better than ever! Thank you for your patience during this time.

As always, we have a lot of news and upcoming events to report! This Friday marks the 100th day of school, so we plan to celebrate by incorporating some 100th day fun learning activities into our day! Don't forget that the JSC PTO Dunkin fundraiser is due this Wednesday, January 31st. Please be sure to read the entire newsletter to stay up-to-date on everything happening in our JSC school community! Thank you for making JSC the place to be!

Phillie Phanatic Adds Joy to JSC Halls

A great big THANK YOU to all students, families, and community members to attended JSC's Joy through the Halls event on December 19th! The JSC staff and students worked extremely hard to deck the halls for this event! Congratulations to our 3rd Grade / Special Education Hallway for receiving the most votes for "Favorite Hallway!" Students won a special activity and staff won a special lunch.

Joy through the JSC Halls was such a wonderful event that we consider all of our students and staff winners! The true prize was the joy of the experience! December is truly a special time at JSC, and we hope to continue the tradition for years to come.

3rd Grade Embryology at JSC

Thanks to a Venture Grant through the Crimson Tide Foundation, our 3rd grade classrooms will be participating in Penn State Extension's Embryology program (beginning this week)!

Did you know??? Embryology is the study of the formation and development of an embryo. Third grade students will develop an understanding of biology concepts through direct experience with living things (specifically - chickens), their life cycle, and their habitat.

Each third grade classroom will study the development of chicken embryos as they grow from an embryo to a baby chick. We can't wait to share our embryology adventures with the JSC community!

Attendance Matters

Mrs. Rubinkam's class was surprised with an impromptu Ice Cream party last week, for all students who were in attendance. This celebration was part of JSC's 'Attendance Matters' monthly celebrations. JSC is the place to be!
