2023-2024 NCC Teacher Induction
Our year is off to a wonderful start! After thoughtful mentor pairings, we kicked off the year with our in-person orientation. We focused on setting SMART +ER goals and discussed the importance of "Just in Time" support. We are continuing our focus on developing positive relationships, providing individualized support, and fostering great teaching through reflection and personalized goals in our quest to ignite the limitless potential of all learners.
Our program is supporting 50 teacher candidates this year:
- 35 Year 1
- 15 year 2 which included three that qualified for the Early Completer's Option (ECO)
Our user-friendly handbook, featuring an organized table of contents, offers a seamless means of locating precise information. We remain committed to enhancing our program, ensuring its unwavering focus on "just-in-time" support, advancing toward CSTP goals, and fostering opportunities for continuous reflection.

Learning Opportunities for Teacher Candidates
The NCC Teacher Induction program provides professional growth opportunities tailored to our candidates goals and specific learning needs. We frequently survey our teachers and design learning opprotuties based on their feedback.
Mentor Professional Learning
All mentors came together for a full day of learning together on Thursday, September 28th.
Some highlights from our day:
- We re-familiarized ourselves with the program standards and shared highlights using Mentimeter.
- Listening and Questions conversations surrounding The Art of Coaching, by Elena Aguilar Chapter were powerful.
- Discussed goal setting and observations and learned a great deal from each other.
- Completed a poll everywhere using conversation starters and Cultural Proficiency: The Continuum. We role played practicing how to interrupt these sorts of statements when we hear them.
- Set goals on our new Mentor ILP using the Mentor Effectiveness Rubric and the Continuum of Mentoring Practice to reflect on current practice.
