A message from your principal
Hello Evergreen Families,
Students are finished with their iReady assessments and we are all happy about that! We see some growth i both reading and math, which is great. Students still have a lot of learning ahead in order to prepare for the next grade level and for the SBA assessment. For some of our students there is an issue with attendance and that impacts their academic growth. If your child is struggling with attending school, please reach out to me or their counselor and we can work together to build consistent attendance.
We have seen a rise in body sprays, perfumes, and colognes coming to school with students. Schools are scent free spaces which means scented products are to be kept at home rather than bringing them to school. If you can help your student keep these products at home, that would really help out our students who have allergies to scented products.
Please remember to vote in the upcoming election. There is a renewal levy and a bond on the ballot that directly impact Everett Public Schools. Turn your ballot in early if you can. More information below.
Have a lovely weekend!
Sincerely,
Sara

Evergreen Athletics
Winter II Sports
With the beginning of our second/spring semester comes the start of two new athletics seasons, Girls Basketball and Wrestling. As before, Girls Basketball will be limited to two teams, a seventh grade team and an eighth grade team. Wrestling is open to all students and grades with sixth graders participating in wrestling as a practice-only sport. Seventh and eighth grade wrestlers do participate in meets. Sixth graders cannot compete against other schools but this practice-only season provides a great opportunity to learn and grow in the sport.
Should you have any questions about these upcoming seasons, please see our Evergreen Athletics Site or contact our Evergreen Office during regular business hours. Student-athletes must have full clearance to participate in practices, beginning later this month.
Girls Basketball tryouts have ended. Games begin February 5th, 2026.

Co-ed Wrestling* (start February 23, 2026)

Assigned Bus Seating--February 23rd
We have officially transitioned to our second semester. After students return from Mid-Winter Break on February 23rd, our Transportation team will be establishing bus seating charts for all regular education middle school bus routes. These seating charts are needed to better ensure student safety and hopefully alleviate bus behavior.
Understandably, students may not agree with this decision but sitting in an assigned seat will become a requirement for riding a bus to/from school. Prior to implementing assigned seats, students will have the opportunity to select a seat assignment where they feel most comfortable. This approach supports a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students. By knowing their daily assigned seat and seat partner, students can experience a greater sense of safety, belonging and reduced anxiety in what can often feel like a confined space. Knowing they have a reserved seat significantly reduces conflicts on the bus resulting from arguing over a particular seat and reduces anxiety about having to sit by (or away from) other students. Assigned seating will also help increase the efficiency of bus loading and unloading, both at our school and at bus stops, by allowing students to become familiar with their regular seating arrangements.
Winter Weather Information
Our weather is certainly getting colder by the day. Should we add snow and ice, there is always a possibility of every middle schoolers dream, a snow day. On such days, please know that any delays and/or closures will be posted on our school and district websites. For more information related to emergency closures and late starts, please CLICK HERE. Thank you, stay safe, and stay warm!

Student Public Library Accounts Available!
All students in Everett Public Schools now have access to resources at both Everett Public Libraries and Sno-Isle Libraries, using a simple username and password for both. This partnership has expanded our students' access to ebooks, audiobooks, physical books, databases, and other digital resources.
This month, librarians will begin introducing the public library resources to students and helping them log in. It won't be all at once, but usernames and passwords will stay the same as long as the student is in the district. Please check with your school librarian for more information.
If you prefer to keep your student from accessing the public libraries, you can opt them out by filling out this form and returning it to your child's school

Seattle Children's Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic
Seattle Children’s is happy to announce the opening Sept. 30 of a new Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic, the first pediatric-focused psychiatric urgent care in Washington state. We hope you will share this information with your teams.
What: Same-day in-person and virtual (video) visits providing mental and behavioral health crisis assessment, initial treatment recommendations and referral to follow-up resources in the community. Care is provided by our experienced team of licensed mental health therapists, family advocates/case managers, psychiatric advanced practice providers (APPs) and medical assistants.
Who: Designed for youth ages 4 through 17 who are experiencing a mental health crisis and need same-day intervention but do not need the services of an emergency department (ED). We care for all Washington youth ages 4 through 17, including children and teens with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
When: Open daily from noon to 8 p.m.; closed on major holidays.
Where: We see youth in person at Seattle Children’s Magnuson, located at 6901 Sand Point Way NE in Seattle, and through video visits from anywhere in Washington state. We recommend scheduling a same-day in-person appointment online or getting in the virtual line for a video visit. We have very limited capacity to see walk-ins and cannot guarantee walk-in access.
Please encourage families who live outside the Seattle area to use the virtual/video option. They must be physically in Washington state during the video visit.
How: Before scheduling a visit, learn whether to go to Psychiatric Urgent Care or an ED. A referral is not required.
- For in-person visits, schedule a same-day appointment online. (Scheduling opens at 12:01 am daily.)
- For video visits from anywhere in Washington state, get in the virtual line to be seen. (The first spots in virtual line open at 11:30 am daily.)
- Please note that spots in the virtual line will open up throughout the clinic day, please encourage youth and families to regularly check back for availability.
- Please note we have very limited capacity to see walk-ins and cannot guarantee walk-in access. Please encourage patients/families to schedule an in-person appointment online or get in the virtual line to be seen for a video visit.
Why: This new service – the first of its kind in the Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho region – is part of Seattle Children’s ongoing commitment to building out the continuum of care to ensure children and teens receive the right level of care at the right time. Psychiatric Urgent Care is intended to connect children and teens in Washington state to faster crisis assessment and follow-up resources in the community.
Please note that patients seen in the Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic will not access other outpatient psychiatry services at Seattle Children’s faster than those referred through the normal process.
