Recess Temperature Reminder
**Reminder from the handbook**
Recess is scheduled for children to take a break from school studies. Every effort is made for children to have recess outside. All students are expected to go outside for recess as weather permits. Appropriate clothing should be worn according to the weather conditions. If students do not have appropriate clothing, every effort will be given to provide children with clothing from the nurse’s office. A student must have written or a medical excuse for an extended excuse from recess. In the event that weather conditions are not conducive to outside play, children will have an indoor recess period. The guidelines for indoor recess are when outside temperatures are 20 degrees or less or the outside temperature when combined with the wind chill factor of 20 degrees or less. If the heat index is 100 degrees or above, students will remain inside during recess.

JBE StuCo Change the World Day
This month our money goes to the Jonesburg Lighted Parade! Bring in a donation and wear a festive & fun holiday shirt day or hat. Thank you for helping show our students what community looks like.
4th Grade Great United States Parade
You are invited to join us for the JBE 4th Grade Great States Parade on Monday, November 24th from 2:30-3:15 in the JBE Cafeteria.
Our fourth-grade students have been working hard to create a "float" out of a shoe box that they will have on display. It's actually the opposite of a parade because the floats are still and you move, but the students are researching their state and creating a display to teach you about what they have learned. You are welcome to come see their hard work on display.
Thanksgiving Break is Drawing Near - We have Monday School (Wednesday Specials)
Please pay your students meal balance before break
Morning Drop Off Procedure Reminder
Recently, there has been an uptick in drivers stopping in the morning drop-off line and getting out to walk their student to the door, come talk to office staff, etc. If you need to get out of your car, please park and walk up to ensure that the line can continue to move smoothly. If your student tends to take a little longer to unload, please pull up past the powercat so the line will continue to flow safely and smoothly. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with our efforts to maintain the safety of all riders.
THANK YOU for Your Help with the Larry Richards Club Food Drive
Thank you to everyone that helped make the Larry Richards Club Food Drive a success. With your help we were able to collect 1,837 items to help local families! Your support is a true blessing to many families in our JBE Family. Congratulations to Mrs. Fitzgerald's 5th grade for winning the pizza party.
Larry Richards Club Information
Larry Richards Club Members/Parents,
The Jonesburg Lighted Parade will be on December 5th. Larry Richards Club members are invited to ride on a float this year. Students are invited to help decorate the float on Sunday, November 30th - (check your Rooms app for more information).
Larry Richards Club members are invited to ride a float during the Jonesburg Lighted Parade on Friday, December 5th. Participating members need to be dropped off in the parking lot by the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church hall by 5:45 pm and will be supervised during the parade. Students are to be picked up at the end of the parade at Jonesburg State Bank by their parent or guardian. If someone other than their parent or guardian is picking them up, confirmation must be made with the school before the end of school on Friday. Please send students dressed in warm layers!

Attendance is Important
Thank You for helping us meet our goal of keeping our building attendance above 95%. As a building we are trying to help students understand the importance of their attendance and have emphasized it in their Data Folders as well as on light up boards in the front window and in the hallway outside the office! Thank you for helping get your student to school healthy and ready to learn!
August Attendance - 96.69%
September Attendance - 96.50%
October Attendance - 95.88%
Please make sure that you call in (833-662-6228 press 5 then press 1) prior to 8:30 if your child is going to be absent so that we can record the reason before we begin making contact. If communication is not received in regard to student absences a few things may happen.
- You will receive an automated message letting you know your student is absent.
- You may receive a personal call from our office staff.
- You may receive a visit from our SRO, or Kylee Waite, our MCR2 Social Worker.
- You will receive our 3-day, 5-day and 8-day attendance letters regardless of calling in. These letters are board policy and are sent to all student families when they hit the 3, 5, & 8 day threshold.
- As a building we are striving to be higher than a 95% average EACH MONTH.
Morning Drop Off Procedures
This is a reminder that only students & staff will be allowed in the building during morning drop off time. The entrance by the powercat will be open at 7:30. The drop off line is for people to pull up, drop off and drive away. You are welcome to walk your student to the front door. If you wish to get out with your student, PLEASE PARK in a spot to do so. Parking in the drop-off line creates confusion and is not safe for our students.
For the first two days of school, parents/guardians WILL BE allowed to walk their student to the classroom. We ask for your cooperation in making this drop off as quick as possible to minimize the number of guests in the building at one time as our students will be learning new procedures. School starts at 7:50 with a virtual morning assembly. When that begins, we ask that all parents/guardians exit the building.
Please help us prepare your student for the first day. If your student does not want to eat school breakfast, they should go directly to their classroom. If your student is eating school breakfast they should go to the cafeteria, get their grab and go breakfast and then go to their classroom to eat.
Students that ride the bus will need to know upon entering the building if they are eating breakfast or not. This will help us get them into the correct line.
Food Money
We encourage you to fill out a Free & Reduced Meal application to see if you qualify.
If you do not qualify and your student eats meals at school, the fees are as follows:
Full price breakfast - $3.30
Full price lunch - $3.70
Reduced price breakfast - $0.30
Reduced price lunch - $0.40
Extra milk and milk break costs $0.50 per student no matter the free and reduced status.
Students are not allowed to charge more than $10. If your student owes more than $10 then they may be offered an alternative meal in lieu of the daily lunch choice.
Please send in meal money in a labeled envelope. If you are interested, there is an option to pay online through the online parent portal.
Past due balances will be sent home most Friday’s and texted to you..
District phone reminders for balances under $5 will begin soon. You are welcome to send in money or pay online at any time.
As always, if you have any questions, please call the Jonesburg Elementary Office. 833-662-6228 ext 4101.
Clothes & Shoes recycling Bin at JBE
We have partnered with USAgain to collect clothes and shoes. This company will pay us 2 cents for every pound collected and will plant a tree (somewhere, not on our property) for every full bin. The bins are located on the southwest corner of our building. We will start spreading the word to the community soon and hope it will help the earth and raise a bit of money for our donation account.
