This past week, we hosted an open house for new students/families that will be attending Southport Elementary next year. It was really fun to get to share all of the amazing things we have happening at our school. Teachers spoke passionately about the things that make each grade level great: fun field trips, a variety of extracurricular clubs, and Project Based Learning experiences. We also shared the excitement that comes with Rocket Day in the spring! Southport Elementary really is a great place to be!

Fue divertido poder compartir todas las cosas maravillosas que suceden en nuestra escuela. Dear Parents and Guardians,

In addition to the school boundary changes for the 2023-2024 school year, we have evaluated

our bus tier schedule and will implement the following changes:

● Rosa Parks Elementary and Kindergarten will be moved to Tier 3

● Jeremiah Gray Elementary and Kindergarten will be moved to Tier 3

● Winchester Village will be moved to Tier 3

● Mary Bryan Elementary will be moved to Tier 2

● Abraham Lincoln Elementary will be moved to Tier 2

Adjustments made to the boundary lines and bus tiers will help maximize our resources. These changes will balance the routes and tiers and most importantly, continue to allow us to transport students in a safe and timely manner. Please find the updated bus tier schedule below.

Southport Elementary’s Robotics Team finished 8th in skills challenge (driving and coding by ourselves). We finished 16th in the team challenge (driving with another team in an alliance). We were 2nd amongst Perry Township teams. Wonderful showing by our students and thank you to Mrs. Mauzy and Mrs. Schmidt for you coaching and guidance.

Intra-District Transfer

Applications for the intra-district transfer process will open February 6th and close February 17th at the end of the day. The target date to send acceptance letters is March 10th. If a parent chooses not to accept the intra-district transfer for the 2023-2024 school year, they must notify the office of Assistant Superintendent for Foundational Learning at Perry Township Education Center no later than April 7th. Information for this process will be shared in all school newsletters.

Transferencia Intra-Distrito

Las solicitudes para el proceso de transferencia de intra- distrito empiezan a partir del 6 de febrero y terminarán el 17 de febrero al final del día. El 10 de marzo es la fechapara mandar las cartas de aceptación. Kindergarten registration is underway! We are excited to accept registration for your child to

attend kindergarten in Perry Township for the 2023-2024 school year.

To attend kindergarten next year your child must be five (5) years old by August 1, 2023. After consultation with the building principal, the waiver process allows a child to turn by five (5) by September 1, 2023.

Please use the information and boundary map below to find your child’s designated

kindergarten academy for the 2023-2024 school year. Schools are determined by residence only.

Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Kindergarteners,

After reviewing our transportation routes, we determined that it was necessary to update the

boundaries for our kindergarten academies for the 2023-2024 school year. Your child’s

kindergarten will no longer be based on the elementary schools. It will be determined by your

residence within these newly established boundaries.

To find your kindergarten, please use the map on our website. You can type in your exact

address to find which school your kindergartener will attend.

If you have already registered for kindergarten and your school changed, the principal will

contact you. You do not need to fill out a new enrollment form. Your child’s information will be

transferred to their new school.

If you have not registered for kindergarten yet, please do so using the updated map. The

enrollment forms can be found on our website.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition. If you have any

CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN FOR SCHOOL!

NFL Flag at Cardinal Stadium is a 5 vs. 5, non-contact, recreational, co-ed league for children as young as 4 years old (Pre-Kindergarten) to 14 years old (8th Grade). We limit teams to 10 players or fewer to maximize playing time. This is an exceptional program for first time players who want to learn the fundamentals of football, and at the same time our league is also a wonderful opportunity for players who may want to continue to enhance their fundamentals and agility.

There are no try-outs and everyone participates! Children are placed on teams according to school, grade, and coach/buddy request. We do our best to make sure teams are even and good competition takes place each week.

This is a 6 game season with games played Sundays and a 1 Day Single Elimination Tournament at the end of the season. Practices take place one hour prior to game time each week to ensure a convenient and fun experience for all.

Participants will receive a NFL reversible jersey and flag belt. Mouth Guards are required and available for purchase at Cardinal Stadium.
