What we are doing this month in specials:

PE

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates from our Physical Education program! In the upcoming unit, your child will embark on a personal and social wellness journey through physical activity.

At Park Street Elementary, we believe physical education is about building strong bodies and nurturing healthy minds and positive social interactions. This unit will focus on teaching students personal and social wellness skills related to participating in physical activity. Here's what your child can expect:

1. Understanding Personal Wellness:

Our PE instructors will guide students in exploring the concept of personal wellness, which encompasses physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Through interactive discussions and activities, students will learn the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, including regular exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate rest.

2. Developing Physical Literacy:

Physical literacy is the foundation for a lifetime of active living. During this unit, your child will have the opportunity to develop essential movement skills and physical competencies. From basic locomotor movements to more complex motor skills, students will build confidence in their abilities and discover the joy of movement.

3. Fostering Social Wellness:

Participating in physical activity offers numerous opportunities for social interaction and collaboration. Through cooperative games, team challenges, and group activities, students will learn valuable social skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and empathy. These skills are essential for building positive relationships and navigating social dynamics on and off the playground.

4. Promoting Inclusivity and Respect:

Our PE program embraces diversity and celebrates the unique strengths of every individual. We create an inclusive environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported. Through cooperative learning experiences, students will learn to appreciate and celebrate differences, fostering a culture of kindness, acceptance, and belonging.

5. Empowering Lifelong Habits:

Our ultimate goal is to empower students to lead healthy and active lives beyond the classroom. By equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for personal and social wellness, we lay the foundation for lifelong physical activity, self-care, and positive social engagement habits.

6. Parental Partnership:

We encourage you to actively engage with your child about their experiences in PE class. Ask them about the skills they are learning and the social connections they are making. Your support and encouragement are vital in reinforcing the importance of personal and social wellness in physical activity.

We are excited to embark on this holistic wellness journey with your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact our PE department. Thank you for your continued partnership in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for your child.

Here's to a journey of wellness and discovery!

Thanks!

What will you learn next month in specials:

PE

Dear Park Street Parents,

I hope this message finds you well. I am proud of your outstanding students. It is always exciting to see how our kids improve in school, both academically and physically, as the year goes on. I am writing to thank you for all the support and motivation you gave your students during our most recent elementary Physical Education (PE) unit.

Over the past few weeks, our students have been doing many different tasks that have helped them get in better shape and improve their coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Each lesson has been full of laughter, learning, and unbridled energy, from fast-paced relay races to fun group games.

Thank your parents for being there for your students through this. Your help has been significant in making this unit successful, whether cheering them on at home or telling your kids to stay active besides school hours. We admire and thank you for your unwavering commitment to your child's growth.

It's also important to me that you know how much you trust our PE program and how much we value working together to improve your child's health. Your dedication to teaching your kids healthy habits and how to live an active life is impressive, and it shows how important it is for all of us to work together to shape their general development.

As we end this unit, I want to encourage you to keep encouraging your kids to love sports and physical exercise. Whether it's a walk on the weekend, a family bike ride, or a game of soccer in the park, these activities bring the family closer together and help them make memories that will last a lifetime.

Again, thank you to all the parents who have helped and cared about their child's schooling and well-being. We are working together to make our kids a healthier future.

Thank you!
