Get REAL Movement Workshops for Students in grades 5-8~ March 18th
The Get REAL Movement is a non-profit organization that is committed to supporting schools in fostering inclusive and affirming environments for all students to be their authentic selves. Their mission is to combat discrimination and hate through their core values of kindness, uniqueness and support. Led by experienced diverse speakers, the humanity based, action oriented, and age appropriate workshops reflect current best teaching practices and curriculum standards to provide participants with a positive and impactful experience.
The goal of the Get Real Movement workshops is to equip schools with the strategic tools they need to support all students to develop self-awareness and demonstrate respect, compassion and support for themselves and others. The workshop are designed to celebrate identities and promotes understanding, empathy, and respect. Every province mandates inclusive education, and schools are legally bound to embrace diversity within their curriculum. The workshops align with these guidelines, offering educational programming that addresses discrimination related to gender identity, sexual orientation, race, and beyond. The themes and messages in the workshops will enrich students' understanding across a variety of subjects, instilling a sense of responsibility as they reflect on their roles as active, informed members of society. Through discussions on intersectionality, inclusivity, and the narratives of marginalized communities, the content aligns with the Social Studies and History strands on equity, human rights, and diversity; emphasizing self-awareness, allyship, and self-care. The presentations also align with Health and Physical Education goals focused on emotional and social well-being. We recognize, however, that despite alignment with provincial and school board policies and curriculums, there are increasing concerns about justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity work with students. I want to emphasize that the focus of these grade appropriate workshops is on fostering respect and inclusion, not promoting beliefs. It’s not about endorsing certain lifestyles but promoting empathy, compassion, and respect for differences. The workshops aim to empower students to embrace their identities and inspire them to create positive community change.
In hosting these workshops, our school demonstrates an understanding of the ongoing commitment and proactivity needed in the efforts to create a more inclusive and affirming school community. We are taking active steps toward creating a safer, more respectful environment for all students.
Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
Drop off and pick up times are very busy times of day at the school. Families are reminded to use the parking spaces or the road side in front of the school to park. Families and students are to use the cross walk by the flagpole to cross the bus loading zone for everyone's safety. Please avoid walking or encouraging students to walk between the buses. Thank you for your support~

Student Accident Insurance
UNDER THE EDUCATION ACT THE BOARD IS NOT PERMITTED TO PROVIDE INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR ACCIDENTS TO PUPILS. THEREFORE, the Board recommends consideration of The insure my Kids plan to any parent/guardian, who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent/guardian and the insurance company.
For more information please visit the LDSB website.
School-Day: Permissions & Payments
Perth Road PS is excited to offer our families a secure portal to complete permissions and payments online. With School-Day: Permissions & Payments, you are able to complete permission forms and payments from any web browser using your SmartPhone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
Through this online portal, you will be able to pay for items such as:
- Field trips
- Athletic team fees
- Fundraising offerings
The easy-to-use portal will remove the risks associated with sending money to school with students, the frustration of lost or missing permission forms, and significantly reduce the amount of paper our school consumes.

Communication Regarding Bus Delays and Cancellations from Tri-Board Student Transportation
During the potential inclement weather months (roughly early November to early April), our transportation partner, Tri-Board Student Transportation Services, works closely with their school bus companies to determine if it is safe to offer school transportation on inclement weather days. To help make the winter season and bus cancellation days easier for students and families to manage, families should sign up for bus status alerts by creating an account in Tri-Board’s Student Portal. Families can add their student(s) to their account, so they are signed up to receive alerts for their specific bus and zone cancellations. Families can also follow Tri-Board on social media:
When all transportation is cancelled across the district, the notification is sent as a general notice from Tri-Board to everyone with an account. Tri-Board does their best to post this alert by 6:00 a.m.
The cancellation of school buses does not mean schools are closed. Should the rare need to close a school arise, the information will be communicated by the LDSB and the individual schools.
Learn more about inclement weather days, timing and duration of cancellations, and more on Tri-Board’s website.
