Hoyne Happenings
Happy Memorial Day!
I hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing long weekend! As we head into the final stretch of the year we are looking forward to many fun filled days, celebrations of learning, and final year end events.
Last week finished with our final Pride Packs of the year. Students reflected on a favorite moment and shared who they are grateful for at Pembroke. Then they thought of an inspiring word for summer and made bracelets to represent that word. Ask your child what word they picked! It was a great way to wrap up our Pride Packs for the year.
This week our 5th graders are excited to visit Derby and learn more about being a Derby Dragon next year. We also hope you will join us on Wednesday for the PTA retirement celebration for Mrs. McClure. See the details below!
Have a great week!

Gift Crowd - End of Year gifting (optional)
The Pembroke PTA has created a GiftCrowd web page, linked here, where families can make a contribution toward a group gift card for their homeroom and/or specials teachers. Families can click on a teacher’s name, make a contribution via debit/credit card, and write a personal greeting to the teacher.
This gift crowd link will end on Friday, June 13th at 7:30am. At that time, teachers will receive a notification about their gift and will be able to read the greetings. Each teacher will be able to choose how they want to use their gift by redeeming the collected amount into more than 130 types of gift cards, including an option for a Visa gift card.
Pembroke Retirement Celebration - May 28

Let’s honor Mrs. McClure for a lifetime of service, dedication, and love for teaching. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement!

After School Playground Reminders
As the weather warms up, it is great to see families enjoying the playground after school. We are appreciate your help in reminding your student/s that recess expectations still apply. During this time Kids Club is frequently using the playground as well and having all students follow the same expectations helps keep all students safe and having fun.
District Dogs on Campus Guidance
We would like to kindly remind everyone that we are a no-animal-on-campus district—a long-standing policy that applies at all times, on all days. While this has been in place for years, we understand it may be an adjustment for some in our community, so we’re partnering with Facilities to add clear signage at playgrounds, athletic areas, and building entrances to help raise awareness. This renewed focus comes in response to a few recent incidents across buildings, and we appreciate your help in supporting a safe and welcoming environment for all students and families. Only district-approved animals—such as service dogs and members of our BPS Canine Comfort Crew—should be on campus. Thank you for your partnership and understanding.
Pembroke Alumni Breakfast - June 4
We cannot wait to welcome our former PRIDE members back to Pembroke for breakfast at 8am on June 4th with old friends and teachers. Following breakfast we will clap our Seniors out one last time. Please RSVP using this link.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
The early registration period for Elementary Academic Review through Birmingham Community Education (www.communityed.net) will close in one week! Take advantage of all that this program has to offer.
This summer, kids can climb back from that slide and spend mornings for three consecutive weeks doing math and reading review in late July/early August and having fun in the process.
Add a PM Camp, Kids Club and/or Swimming so that students can stay with us for an extended day or the entire day. Programs run at various times between 7:30am-6:00pm. We look forward to another great summer!

Sign up for Middle School Robotics!
Is your child interested in joining the exciting world of Robotics? Derby and Berkshire Robotics are looking for new members to join their FTC Robotics teams. No previous experience is necessary, and all are welcome. Please carefully read and complete this google form. If there are more applicants than there are spots on the team the coaches will consider applications and make roster decisions before the 2025-2026 school year starts. Registration will close on the last day of school, June 13th.
For incoming and returning Derby Students: We need more robotics coaches in order to run a full team. If we do not have anyone volunteer to coach Derby may not have a Robotics team for next year.
