Temple Athletics Newsletter
From The Nest
Edition 15: March 28, 2023
It is truly March Madness mode here at Temple University as well as around the country. The women’s tournament features former Temple coach Dawn Staley looking to lead South Carolina to a perfect season and her third National Championship. On the men’s side history has been made with a Final Four with no #1 seed for the first time since 2011. It is also good to see Florida Atlantic, a team that will join the American Athletic Conference next season, advance to its first Final Four.
TEMPLE TOAST
I would like to thank our Temple University community for their generosity yesterday as we celebrated our day of giving with Temple Toast. We are still tabulating the numbers and will share once that is completed, but the outpouring of support was tremendous and much appreciated.
There is still time to give! Click HERE if you would like to donate.
TEMPLE EXPERIENCE
EMPOWHER SHABBAT
Women's lacrosse head coach, Bonnie Rosen, and Athletics Travel & Business Manager, Aly Hinton, participated in the EmpowHER Shabbat, a dinner and panel hosted by Hillel at Temple this past Friday. The focus of the event was on the experiences of women in sport, as well as the experiences of those in the Jewish community.
EMPOWHER NETWORKING NIGHT
On Monday, March 27 Temple Athletics partnered with Philadelphia Federal Credit Union (PFCU) to host a networking night titled “EmpowHER” to commemorate Women’s History Month. The goal of the event was to provide a forum for connection between Temple’s student-athletes and successful women across various industries.
Among the companies and organizations represented were the Philadelphia Eagles, PFCU, MERC, Comcast, Philadelphia Phillies, the Mayor’s Office of Engagement for Women, Temple’s Fox School of Business and School of Sport, Tourism & Hospitality Management.
Thank you to Athletics staff members Jessica Dietz, Aly Hinton, Gabi Hughes, Nicole Repetto and Haley Shinn for spearheading the initative.
