Parent and Community Engagement at Truitt Middle School
Hello Timberwolf families,
It hope everyone had a nice Fall Break. It has definitely been a busy couple of weeks. Band and Choir both kicked off fall concert season, football and volleyball games continued, we held our district cross country meet, we had district assessments in the classroom, and we ended our first grading period on Oct. 8th.
I am very proud of all the students. They have been working very hard in the classroom. It was also so nice to see so many of you at the various events. I want to give a special shout out to Xavi R. who finished 3rd at the district cross country meet. He ran a very tough race. Way to lead the PACK Xavi!
We have a number of things going on in the next couple of weeks. Football playoffs began this week. We would also like to invite everyone to our first Parent University event on October 28 at 5:00. Parent University events are opportunities for you to learn and connect with us about various topics that are important to your student's education. This will take place right before our Orchestra concert, so we hope you will come early. Not only will we reward your student for your attendance, but you will also get access to the best seats at the concert.
There are many other exciting events going on at Truitt and around the district. We have attached several flyers below. We hope you that you will find some time to join us.
Academically, there are several exams happening in your student's classes this week and next. Be sure to check in with your student to help them plan out how they will study and prepare.
Follow us across social media platforms to see highlights of some of the great things going on at Truitt Middle School. We have a new Facebook page, so please use the link at the bottom of the newsletter to give us a follow.

Procedures for Students Leaving Early
Dear Parents and Guardians,
If you plan on having your student leave early because of a doctor's appointment or non-emergency, please follow these procedures:
- Send a handwritten note with your student information and the time needed to be excused (please make sure your student gives it to attendance before 1st period).
- If sending a note through email, please make sure you attach a photo of your ID and you must send it an hour prior to leaving.
- No emails or early releases after 2:30 pm due to the dismissal process starting.
Please keep in mind that the state of Texas requires students to be in attendance at least 90% for each class or they will be in danger of losing credit. Try to schedule appointments for after school and ensure your student is on time for first period every day.
Other helpful tips:
- Make sure if your student is absent, please send a doctor's note when your student arrives back to school.
- Only emergency contacts listed can be allowed to take students with previous approval from guardian.
- If a student arrives at school after 7:55 am, make sure to sign them in or send a note. Otherwise, they will be counted absent.
If you have any questions or concerns,
Please email nancy.torres2@cfisd.net or jennifer.villarreal@cfisd.net
for any attendance needs
