A Message from Ms. Brown: A Message from Ms. Brown:

Dear Lamar Parents,

Can you believe we are just a week and half away from the start of the 2025-2026 school year. We are so excited to have our Leopards back on campus with us on August 13th. The teachers have already begun to ready their classrooms and return tomorrow for our back to school staff development. This newsletter will be the first of many that will come weekly moving forward. We want to make sure you are given up to date information, so you can stay informed and involved throughout the school year. Please take time to read the notes below and review the flyers and information included.

Little Leopard League:

This year we are excited to provide our newest Leopards and their families with a little more time to get acclimated and to receive important information as they begin their journey at Lamar. We will hold this event at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11th. Upon arrival, parents will walk their students to their classroom to engage in some fun activities with their teacher. After, parents will come directly to the gym for a presentation that is specific to starting school.

Meet the Teacher:

Our Meet the Teacher event for grades 1st-4th will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. This event is come and go, so please feel free to come anytime during the duration of the event. Parents and students will visit the classrooms, drop off any school supplies, and visit the cafeteria for some activities, too. See you there!

First Day of School:

Our first official day is Wednesday, August 13th. We will have more information about first day procedures in next week's Limelight. The PTO will be set up in the library for a Tears and Cheers event if you need a little extra support as you drop off your Leopard.

3:10 p.m. Dismissal

I wanted to prepare you that with the expected instructional minutes we will be dismissing ALL students beginning at 3:10 p.m. versus the 3:00 p.m. time we previously were releasing. In order for us to get in the expected content, we must ensure our teachers have sufficient time for instruction.

We Need Your Help!

One of our goals in the next month is to update the Front Office, Star Lobby, and the Teacher's Lounge. I have included a wish list to help us with this project. Please take time to review the list and help us out if you are able to. We would really appreciate your help in updating our spaces for you, our Leopards, and our teachers.

Stock the Lounge:

We are also asking for sponsors each month to stock our lounge for our staff. We have had some great support already, and we are so grateful. If you are interested, please see the flyer below and email me with the month you would like to sponsor. Thank you to the Lozano Family for donating the month of August. We appreciate you!

PTO Live Auction for Parking Spots and First in Car Rider Line:

The auction for both is now open. The link to enter is below.

Buy Your Lamar Spirit Wear:

The PTO has spirit wear on sale now. I have included the link to the shop below. Get your swag now for back to school.

Our Communication System is Changing:

We’re excited to begin using our new mass communication system, Alerts. In Alerts, SMS messages will come from 98900. Thank you for your support as we transition our communication platforms to bring greater efficiency in sharing information!

Updating Documents:

We will begin adding 2025-2026 updated documents to the buttons below. If you need something before the updates are completed, please reach out for assistance.

I have missed everyone and can't wait to see you in August. Let me know if you have any questions or need any clarification on the information shared in The Limelight. Thanks!

Hugs,

Alison
