Letter from the Principal

Greetings PPA students, families, and community,

Thank you all for your continued support of PPA. Our Parent/Caregiver- Teacher Conference was a great success. It was wonderful to see the community come together in support of our scholars.

With that being said, families we need your input.. May you please take time to fill out this 2 question survey based on communication. If there is anything we can do better please let us know.

District Communication Survey:

District communication survey for the families. Please take time to fill out the 2 question survey to share your thoughts on how communication is going or needs improvement.

Communication survey- English

Encuesta de Comunicación-- -Spanish

What’s new at PPA? (As a reminder)

Chromebooks are the students' responsibility. If students/families have multiple Chromebooks issued to them, they will not be able to receive a loaner. This might hinder their academic progress. I encourage students to return any Chromebooks issued by SPASD that are in their possession, no matter how old or the condition of them, to return them to the main office.

I look forward to working with you this school year in support of your scholar's academic journey!!

Take care,

Ms. Sconiers

Ecology: Braiding Sweetgrass. A book study and Ecology Workshop.

Pond Ecology: We have been reading about the ecological balance and longevity of ponds and pond ecology through the chapter in the book, Braiding Sweetgrass, as well as collecting pond samples to examine the microbiology found within the water samples. The story in the book reminds us that finding balance (in ourselves, as well as nature) is a moving target, and there is always work to do toward the eventual aspect of eutrophication.

CAFETERIA CONNECTION - NOVEMBER 2023

Did you know that you don’t have to take a milk with lunch? We offer 5 food groups at lunch every day. They are grains, meat or meat alternatives, fruits, vegetables and milk. All students must take three of the five items offered to qualify as a meal. One of the three items must be a half cup of fruit or vegetable.

For example - on November 3 we are having cheeseburgers, sweet potato fries, salad bar, applesauce and milk. If you take the cheeseburger you already have the two items - grains (bun) and meat (burger). Now you still have to take a ½ cup fruit or vegetable, so you take the applesauce. That’s all you need to make a meal. You can still add the milk, but if you don’t like milk, you don’t have to take it. You can take everything listed on the menu if you’d like but to reduce food costs and waste, we hope you will only take what you will actually eat.

Be adventurous and try something new - like the sweet potato fries! We think you will really like them.

Now that the school year is well underway - it would be a great time to check your students' food service account. We appreciate you trusting us to feed your students healthy meals!
