Principal Message

What a fun week! PTO helped us celebrate Red Ribbon Week through spirit days. Friday brought us the Halloween Parade. We were so excited to see so many families there too! Lots of smiles and joy was evident this week on campus.

Core School Values/Rules

In October we are working on "Be Responsible". Being responsible means taking care of our belongings and completing our responsibilities. At school and at home, students can show responsibility by cleaning up after themselves and following through on tasks.

Did You Know?

At Ivey Ranch, aligned with all OUSD schools, we follow a common approach to discipline. Progressive discipline is an approach that helps students learn from their mistakes, develop self-control, and make better choices over time. Rather than treating every behavior the same way, school staff consider factors such as the student’s age, the behavior, the circumstances, and the student’s previous history.

For less serious or first-time behaviors, staff may begin with reminders, reteaching expectations, problem-solving conversations, or logical consequences. If behaviors continue or become more serious, additional supports and consequences may be needed, including parent communication and more formal interventions.

The goal of progressive discipline is multi-fold. Our goal is to help children understand expectations, take responsibility for their actions, repair harm when appropriate, and develop the skills needed to make positive choices at school and beyond. Serious behaviors that threaten safety may require an immediate and more significant response.

While applying progressive discipline, we also engage in the important aspect of teaching a student appropriate skills and strategies to learn and manage behaviors and emotions.
