Parent Conference Reminder
As a reminder, parent conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 11, from 12:30 to 2:45 PM and 4:00 to 7:30 PM. While students in K-8 will also have conferences on Thursday, 11/12, the high school will hold conferences only on Wednesday, 11/11, and students in grades 9-12 will attend school on Thursday, 11/12.
Conferences are intended to facilitate meaningful conversations about your student's learning. Our conference format centers around reflecting on student progress and identifying the necessary support in the future. Therefore, we encourage your student to attend conferences with you. Each scheduled conference time is 20 minutes. Parents may sign up for conferences with individual teachers using the link below.
Click Here for Parent Conference Scheduling Links
All conferences will be held in person unless you request a virtual conference. If you prefer to have your conference held via Google Meet, please email the teacher after booking a conference. They will send you a link to meet for your conference.
Attendance Letters
Unexcused Absence Letter - Parents/guardians are notified of an absence logged as unexcused via an unexcused absence attendance letter. These letters are not mailed home. They are generated and posted directly to Skyward Family Access under “portfolio” on a daily basis. The parent/guardian will receive a notification email regarding the posted letter.
SAIP Letter - This letter is uploaded to the Skyward Parent Portal and will include the date/time of the scheduled SAIP meeting.
Seven Day Excused Letter - This letter is a notice that the student is nearing the permitted ten excused and unexcused absences for the school year. This letter is not mailed home. It is automatically posted to Skyward Family Access under “portfolio”.
- Ten Day Excused Letter - This letter is a notice that the student has used all ten excused absences for the school year. This letter is not mailed home. It is automatically posted to Skyward Family Access under “portfolio”. A phone call home will be made as well.
AP Exams
AP Exams will take place in the first two weeks of May 2026. By taking one or more of these exams, students may have the opportunity to earn college credits. Information regarding exam fees, registration deadlines, and exam dates has been distributed to students currently taking year-long or semester-1 AP courses. The registration deadline is November 6. Exam information for semester 2 AP courses will be distributed in semester 2 classes, and the registration deadline will be in March for spring AP classes. The cost of each exam is $99. Checks can be made payable to Dover Area High School, and payment must accompany the registration form already provided to students. Please contact Mrs. Focht with any questions regarding the registration process.
Dover Eagle Foundation News
Dover Eagle Foundation News:
The Foundation awarded classroom grants to seven teachers this year. The grants will fund special projects to benefit our Dover students. Congratulations to:
Mr. Andrew Becker (Stock Market Investment Simulation Game), Mr. Pete Bowen (Solar Power Project), Mr. Curtis Poorman (History Department Local History Initiative), Mrs. Ashley Jones (The Power to Create: Enhancing Student Design with 3D Printing Technology), Mrs. Heather Zimmerman (Wonder League Robotics Competition), Mrs. Kaitlyn Mellott & Mr. Dave Marascio (North Salem Reset Room).
The Foundation provided prizes to students who participated in Dover’s Summer Learning Challenge. Over 100 elementary students completed this program. Great job, students and families!
The Foundation received $300 in Care Cards from Community Aid. We delivered the cards to Dover’s Social Work Department, which will distribute them to Dover families in need. We're very thankful for our partnership with Community Aid. Reminder: If you are cleaning out and would like to donate items, please consider dropping them off at one of Community Aid’s seven locations. The closest one is at Queensgate Shopping Center in York. If you mention our name and/or partner number (#50390), we receive credit.
The Dover Band Craft Show is on Saturday, November 14th at the Dover Area High School. Stop by our table and say hello!
This year we are participating in Giving Tuesday. On Tuesday, December 1st, check our Facebook page for information on how to support. All the proceeds raised that day will go to our Student Success Fund.
Join us: upcoming Foundation meetings are Wednesday, November 4, and Wednesday, December 2, at 6 pm in the Dover Admin Building. Questions? Email us at foundation@doversd.org

Career & Technical Education (CTE) Corner
October was a busy CTE month!, All 11th-grade students participated in JA Real Life to learn about budgeting, job interviews, and resumes. We had a College & Career Fair with 70+ postsecondary schools, employers, and training programs. Students visited local companies for Manufacturing Week with Mr. Goode. FFA members attended their national convention in Indiana with Ms. Marsh, and Mrs. Ural has been working hard to help the RedZone support our student section at football games!
We also held Occupational Advisory Committee meetings this past month. All of our CTE programs have industry partner committees that advise us and help us stay current with industry trends and local employment opportunities. As a result, we plan to add several new industry certifications, including SolidWorks in Engineering and W3 Python Programming Certification in Computer Technology. Stay tuned for more news in the future! We are working hard to strengthen our programs so students have the skills they need to build their futures. If you have industry expertise related to our programs, please reach out! We’d love to hear from you!

Good Grades, Great Rewards at The Eagles Nest!
This November, the Eagles Nest, a branch of First Capital Federal Credit Union, is celebrating student success! High school students who make the Honor Roll can earn extra rewards this month. New members who open an account and show proof of Honor Roll will receive a $10 reward, while existing members who bring in proof of Honor Roll will receive a $5 reward! It's a great way to recognize students' hard work while encouraging smart money habits.
Students and parents, have you heard about the Eagles Nest and wondered what it is or how it can benefit you? The Eagles Nest is a fully operational branch of First Capital Federal Credit Union, located right inside the Dover Area High School cafeteria! Students can open accounts, make deposits, cash checks, and learn valuable financial skills right at school.
We also offer the exclusive Dover Dollar$ Stamp Card Program for Dover Area School District students of all ages! When students open an account, they receive a stamp card and earn one stamp for every $20 or more deposit or cashed check. Once they collect 20 stamps, they will receive a $20
reward deposited directly into their account! Students can complete as many stamp cards as they like throughout the year, making it a great way to encourage saving and growing their account balance.
Interested in learning more? Stop by the Eagles Nest and see Adleigh, Student Ambassador, and Kayla Weaver, School Branch Coordinator, on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students can also open an account online using promo code DOVER6 to open an account for free. If you have any questions, Kayla would be happy to help! Contact her at kaylaw@firstcapitalfcu.com or (717) 767-5551 ext. 1550.
