Principal Duckworth's Notes

For the last couple of weeks, we have not had a full week's worth of school. That goes for this week as well. There will be no school on this Friday, November 14.

Parents, do you have a love for reading? Would you like to be in a Reading Club? Why not be a Global Reading coach for some of our E2 students.

The Global Reading Challenge is a Battle of the Books program sponsored by the Kalamazoo Public Library. The Challenge promotes the reading of fiction and nonfiction that celebrate the world’s diverse community. The Global Reading Challenge is limited to 4th- and 5th-grade classes within the Kalamazoo Public Library District.

The coaches are responsible for assisting students with reading the 10 assigned books. You would also ask questions regarding those books to help students prepare for the Global Reading Challenge.

There will be a Northglade Challenge, then that team will move to the next round and challenge other schools near us. The winner of that round will go to the finals, which will be held at the Downtown Branch Public Library.

Last week, we conducted a mascot challenge to select a new mascot for our school. Previously known as the Northglade Rising Stars, we are excited to announce our new mascot, inspired by the creative suggestions of Charlie Andrew, Lucia Salinas Glynn, and Zarha Ndoye.
