A message from Mrs. Holloman, Principal

Dear IVES Families,

We can’t believe we’re already in the final month of the school year—and our students are feeling it too! Just this morning, one student greeted me at the front door and said they didn’t want the school year to end. It reminded me of something we often say: A building is just a building when it’s empty, but it becomes a school when it’s full of children. That’s how we like it best!

It has truly been an honor working with your children this year. We’ve had an incredible year of learning, growth, and memorable experiences, and we still have exciting events ahead this month:

  • Staff Appreciation Week, May 5th-9th - Thank you for sending in so many wonderful items to support our outstanding staff next week as we seek to honor everyone for their consistent care and commitment to serving students well. We appreciate your generous support!

  • Popcorn Day – May 15: Our last Popcorn Day of the year! All proceeds will go toward teacher classroom needs as we prepare for the 2025–2026 school year.

  • Family Movie Night – May 9: Huge thanks to our fabulous PTO, who have supported us all year long. They are hosting a fun and relaxing Family Movie Night—don’t miss it!

  • Continuation Celebrations – May 22: We will celebrate our Kindergarteners and 5th graders as they prepare for the next step in their educational journey. This is an especially meaningful milestone for 21 of our 5th graders who began their time at IVES as Kindergarteners and are now completing their elementary journey with us.

As we reflect on this school year, we are proud of all that’s been accomplished. Our students have shown incredible growth in reading and math. We earned the High Reliability Schools Level 1 distinction. We had a successful Boosterthon event - thanks to ALL of you, our Flyer Choir is once again competing at Elitch Gardens this Saturday, and we continue to have the very best students and staff in D49.

It has been an absolute privilege to serve as the principal of this amazing community. Thank you for your continued support—we are already planning for a fantastic 2025–2026 school year!

Warmly,

Pam Holloman

Principal

Important Information

Kindergarten and 5th grade Continuation Information

Kindergarten and Fifth grade continuations will take place on May 22nd. These will be held in the Gallery. Kindergarten will be held from 9:10-10:00am. Fifth Grade will be held from 1:30-3:00pm.

Seating

Due to limited space in the Gallery, only immediate family (2 members) may attend. Young children may sit on their parent’s lap. Siblings that attend IVES in other grades are encouraged to remain in their homeroom class instead of attending the continuation. Below are some important details:

Doors Open

To allow for our wonderful maintenance team to prepare the gallery with chairs, we will let families into the building at the following times. Kindergarten will be allowed in at 9:00am. Fifth grade families will be allowed in at 1:30pm. Thank you!

Balloons

We are a latex free school due to student allergies. Please refrain from bringing any latex balloons.

Dismissal

If you would like to pre-arrange to check your child out early (directly after the attended continuation), please send an email to Emalee Thomison (emalee.thomison@d49.org) so that we may add your child’s name to the pre-arranged check out list. Family members who choose this option, please remain in the Gallery afterwards and we will call your student down.

To ensure all students are accounted for after the continuation ceremony, ALL students will be walked back to their classrooms by their teacher. Those on the prearranged check out list will be called down and those staying for the remainder of the day will stay with their classroom teacher and be dismissed as usual at the end of the day.

If you are not on the pre-arranged check out list, but decide at the event to check your student out early, we will direct you to the front office to check out with Emalee Thomison, please have your Government issued identification ready. Thank you.

We are so excited to see you at this event!

Nominate a special education staff member today!

Our special education staff works hard! If you would like to nominate them for a special award and to be recognized on May 20th! Email your nomination to joy.kovanda@d49.org.

Cell Phone Policy:

In accordance with district policy, cell phones and other personal communication devices should be kept in students' backpacks and turned off during the school day. These devices should not be used during school hours unless specifically authorized by a teacher for educational purposes. This helps reduce distractions and supports a positive classroom environment.

Please review the Power Zone and Inspiration View Elementary's Cell Phone Policy

Dress Code:

With warmer weather on the way, we ask that families help ensure students come to school dressed appropriately. Clothing should be school-appropriate, comfortable for learning and play, and in line with the district dress code. This includes items such as shorts and tank tops, which should provide adequate coverage and support a respectful school atmosphere.

Health Room:

This letter is the annual immunization compliance letter for 2025-26. This letter includes important information about Colorado's school vaccine requirements. Colorado law requires students who attend to be vaccinated or obtain a Certificate of Exemption. Here are the immunization rates from the 2023-24 school year. This is just for your information, there is nothing you need to do at this time. Thank you and have a great day.

Very Respectfully

Kelly King RN, BSN

Important Traffic Support Needed

Safety is our first concern. Please follow the signage for right turn only out of the parking lot. We have had several near misses recently and need to ensure the safety of all. Thank you for following the posted signage.

Please do not use the dirt lot to the west of the school as this property is not a parking lot and creates safety concerns when exiting onto Vista Del Pico. Please use the street for parking, the kiss and go lane, or the Inspiration View Elementary parking lot. Thank you!

Attendance:

If your student has an appointment, please be sure to send in a physician's note to the front office so that we can properly code the excused absence in the system. Examples might include, doctor, dentist, etc.).

Should your student be absent, parents must report this absence to the front office with a phone call (719-495-5302) or an email (emalee.thomison@d49.org). Emalee is our Attendance Secretary and is the person who can assist with the call. If you do not report your student's absence, it will be marked as unexcused. Unexcused absences are tracked and reported to D49 truancy. If you have any questions about reporting absences or truancy, please reach out to Jessica Cole (719-495-5307).
