Successes at Liberty!

As you may know, the Iowa School Performance Profiles are released each fall to provide the public with information on how schools are performing across the state. These reports consider a variety of factors such as state test performance and growth, attendance data, and growth for English Learners. The new results were released last week, and we are excited to share that Liberty Elementary showed significant growth in multiple areas!

Our overall score increased 3.5%. This improvement was driven by growth in several important areas: attendance growth improved by 3.79%, chronic absenteeism decreased by 9.2%, mathematics growth on state assessments increased by 1.5%, English Language Arts (ELA) growth increased by 8%, and science proficiency increased by 11.91%. Each of these areas reflects the hard work of our students, staff, and families working together to support learning.

Even more exciting, Liberty students outperformed the state averages in a number of key measures. We grew at a higher rate than the state average in attendance growth, reduced chronic absenteeism more than the state average, and exceeded the state’s average growth in English Language Arts. The most notable celebration is our growth in English Language Arts, where Liberty students demonstrated stronger progress than students across Iowa.

We are proud of this positive momentum and know it would not be possible without the combined efforts of our students, families, and staff. Thank you for the role you play in supporting your child’s success every day. Together, we are helping our students grow, learn and succeed!

Bullying and Harassment Free District

The District is committed to providing all students with a safe learning environment in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The District’s Anti-Bullying, Harassment, and Hazing policy defines bullying and harassment as well as the procedures for reporting and investigating bullying or harassment complaints.

If your student feels they are being bullied or harassed, encourage your student to visit with the student involved and tell them to stop. They should also tell a teacher, principal, or trusted adult at their school. An online discrimination, bullying, harassment, and hazing complaint form is also available on the District’s website and may be completed by the student, parent, or school employee.
