WOW! What a day! Thank you to our Home & School Association for hosting another incredible Fun Run. We are are only a few hundred dollars away from raising $60,000 for our school! We also had a record 650+ visitors cheering on our kiddos with Spirit the Eagle! Thank you to everyone for your patience today.

We have seen an increase in students (even as young as kindergarten) using SMART watches during the school day. This can look like families texting their students, students playing games, etc. As you can imagine, this is very distracting to the school day and to the student learning.

Please know, we ask that any SMART watch be set to "school mode" during the school day. If a student has repeated incidents with their SMART watch, we will send it home, and ask that it not be brought back to school. We also ask that families NOT text their students throughout the day. If you need to get your student a message, please call the office (262.789.6550) and/or email their homeroom teacher, and we will ensure they receive it.

If your student is not feeling well, and texts you, please ask them to notify their teacher and they will be sent to the health room.

This week was our first of two SAFETY WEEKS that we will hold this year. It was intentionally lined up with the National "Fire Safety Week." During our "Safety Week," we practiced our 3 main drills:

• Severe Weather/Tornado Drill (SHELTER)
• Fire Drill (EVACUATE), and
• HOLD (doors are closed and locked, but teaching continues like normal. We would use this procedure if there was a medical emergency in the hallway, and we needed students to stay put, so emergency personnel could work uninterrupted)

Staff reviewed all drill procedures with the students using kid-friendly language and scenarios.

Per Wisconsin State Statute, we will hold fire drills monthly during the school year, as well as Tornado/Severe Weather Drill and HOLD Drills 2x/year.

Our next safety week will be in the spring.
