What's Happening in the Library

Join us for our second Family Engagement Night with a snow themed night of fun! There will be snow themed activities in the regions, playing in the "snow" on the playground, and "Ice Skating" in Music and Movement. The first 200 families will receive a goodie bag with a book and take home activities. Check your Ranger Report from Ms. Anderson for details and registration.

If you are looking for amazing online book resources for your student log into your student's School Portal and access Calhoun's MackinVia account for options. This is a great resource for home and when traveling. Click on the attached link for instructions on logging in.

1. Your child’s book should stay in their Library Book Bag when the book is not being read.

2. Books MUST be returned in the bag for a new book to be checked out and sent home.

3. If a bag is damaged please send it back to school so that we can reuse the label and repair or replace the bag. *DO NOT throw bags away.

4. Replacement bags will be $1.

If you receive an email reminder about a late library book don't worry! These reminders are sent out automatically on Monday mornings for any books that have been out for 30 days or more. We don't collect fines at our Calhoun Library, so it's just to remind you that you have a book at home that needs to be returned. Thank you for helping us keep the books in circulation for the students and teachers!

Your child may not be able to read their library book to themselves yet, but that doesn't mean it's not important to them. The benefits of reading a book out loud to your child are huge. Reading the same book over and over to an adult may seem boring, but to young children it can help them learn reading skills at a young age.
