Hornet Family Weekly News
Week of Monday, August 31 - Friday, September 4, 2026
Hornet Nation,
We have much to celebrate at Hampton High School! Our students have done an outstanding job responding to our FOCUS ON technology expectations by keeping personal devices off, out of sight, and unused throughout the instructional day, helping us create a more focused and engaging learning environment. To recognize their efforts and positive choices, we will celebrate our students with ice cream on Thursday!
This week’s newsletter also includes important updates for our Class of 2027, including Prom 2027, cap and gown ordering through 3rd Ascent, information related to the Senior Courtyard, and opportunities for families to become involved through our School Council.
Thank you for continuing to partner with us as we build momentum, celebrate progress, and move forward Stronger Together: Building What’s Next.
Dr. Jarvis J. Price
Hampton High School | Teacher of the Year
"Caitlin Collins is the driving force behind the award-winning Hive Theater. She has led the school's theater program to become a Georgia Thespian Honor Troupe at the Gold Level, the highest distinction possible and a first for any school in Henry County. She serves as a mentor to teachers across the district while fostering a culture of service and friendship within the school. Her ability to integrate the arts into the heart of the community has made the theater program a model of student success and belonging." The 2026 TOTY ceremony will be on Sept. 24, 2026 !
PSAT/NMSQT Opportunity for Students
Hampton High School students in grades 9–11 will have the opportunity to participate in the PSAT this fall. The assessment provides valuable feedback on students’ strengths and areas for growth, supports college and career planning, and helps students become familiar with the SAT Suite of Assessments. The Georgia Department of Education will cover the cost for 10th grade students, while 9th-grade students may take the PSAT 8/9 for $12 and 11th-grade students may take the PSAT/NMSQT for $14. Testing will take place on campus on October 21, 2026 using school-issued Chromebooks.
Families of students who need testing accommodations should also review the attached parent letter carefully, as College Board approval and parental consent are required for accommodations to be provided.

Upcoming College Tour(s)
Stronger Together: Building What’s Next includes expanding access to experiences that prepare students for life after graduation. Through our School Counseling Department, students will have opportunities to visit colleges, explore postsecondary options, and build connections that support college and career readiness. These experiences complement our focus on academic growth by helping students see how today’s learning connects to future opportunities. Students are also encouraged to recommend colleges and career experiences they would like HHS to consider as we continue ensuring every student is known and every student grows.

26 -27 HHS Parking Application
HHS will actively enforce all student parking requirements. Students who drive to school must have a valid parking permit and park only in their assigned or authorized student parking areas.
Student parking privileges may be revoked for:
- Parking without a valid permit
- Parking in faculty or visitor spaces
- Parking in unauthorized areas on the HHS campus
- Accumulating excessive tardies
The safety and security of our students begin with knowing which vehicles should—and should not—be on campus. Unauthorized vehicles may be towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.
Students who still need to register for a parking permit should complete the HHS Parking Permit Form.
Please note that parents, guardians, or students must use a Google email address to access and submit the form. We highly encourage students to use their school email address to complete the application!
Thank you for partnering with us to maintain a safe, orderly, and secure campus. By following these expectations, we remain Stronger Together.
Henry County Schools - Focus: ON 2026 Resources
As a result of HB 340 (2025) and now HB 1009, the state legislature has strengthened the Distraction-Free Learning Environment to now include all schools, K-12, in Georgia. Henry County Schools adopted Policy JCDAF last year to remove cell phones, smartwatches, or other electronic communication devices from the hands of students during the school day.
District Policy : Personal Electronic Devices
Students are prohibited from using personal electronic devices or accessories during the instructional school day. A personal electronic device refers to any device utilized to access the Internet, Wi-Fi, cellular telephone signals or to capture images or video. This includes but is not limited to, cell phones, smart watches, tablets, and gaming devices.
This also includes the use of accessories. Personal electronic device accessories include any wired or wireless accessory or wearable technology that connects to a device and any other accessory commonly used in conjunction with a personal electronic device.
