LMS Friends,
It has been another great two weeks at LMS! Our students continue to be challenged and their days are full.
This past week, we had our all District choral concert. Our students did a marvelous job!
We have also made the shift to the third term. It is hard to believe we are down to the last third of the year.
We are busy with this year still but have also turned our attention to next year. You will see some notes on this below and hope you will complete the input form for your students in grades 5 through 7.
The next Scoop will come out on April 1st! Enjoy this edition of the Scoop!
Regards,
John P. D'Entremont, Principal
Placement and Transition - Looking to 2022-2023
5th and 7th Grade Families:
On Friday, March 11th families received emails about parent input for placement purposes for next year. Please complete this form by the end of the month if you have not done so yet.6th Grade Families:
On Friday, March 11th families received an email about a course selection form and an input form for placement purposes for next year. All 6th grade families must complete the course selection form by the end of the month. The input form is optional but should also be completed by the end of the month.
8th Grade Families:
Please continue to review the information Mrs. Allard continues to put in the Scoop under the counseling section. On Wednesday, March 9th families received an email from the LHS counselors who visited with our 8th graders that day in their social studies classes. 8th graders should have registered for their classes by today.
Morning Drop-Off Reminders
Please come down Moulton Avenue from Prospect Street.
We continue to encourage families to drop students off anywhere in the drop off zone which is along the sidewalk. The first place you stop is where you should drop. Students can walk on the sidewalk to their respective doors to enter the building.
5th and 6th grade families should not stop prematurely to drop off. Pull as far forward as you can, drop, and be safely on your way.
7th and 8th grade families should not keep their students in the car, and drive all the way to the bottom. If you stop, even at the top, it is still OK to drop off there.
After dropping, please use the left lane to exit slowly and carefully.
The drop off loop will go quicker if everyone adheres to these simple reminders! Thank You!

Latest Update by Nancy Pageau
Hello LMS families!
I am loving this warmer weather! Please remember to pack extra clothing/shoes/boots for your child if they are prone to getting muddy or wet when outdoors at recess. We have limited clothing options available here at school and you will be getting a phone call to bring a change of clothing in for them, if needed.
“Masks Welcome”
This week has gone very well after the district changed the mask policy. I would say at least 50-60 % of staff & students have opted to keep wearing masks for now when they are indoors at school. Masks are available from the nurses office, if needed.
A reminder that anyone who has had to isolate or quarantine due to covid, when they return to school after 5 days, will need to continue to wear a mask for days 6-10 before being able to remove them. I will be speaking to individuals involved in those circumstances. Please let me know if anyone has questions about masking.
Students should continue to stay home and do a covid test if they have any covid symptoms. At this time of year, covid symptoms can be similar to allergy symptoms. When in doubt as to whether it’s allergies, just a “cold” or covid, please test! If we do not have current documentation in your child’s health file that they have allergies, you will be asked to test for any symptoms. Please send those test results to the nurse.
Physicals/Immunizations
As we get to this last trimester, I am still collecting any new physicals or immunization records that have been or are being done. Please forward copies of them to me for your child’s health record. Any 7th/8th grader who intends to play LMS softball or baseball should make sure we have a current physical on file (7th grader physicals have to be done in 2021 or later, 8th grader physicals in 2020 or later).
March is National Nutrition Month - a time to encourage making informed food choices, to develop healthy eating habits for life and increase physical activity as the weather improves.
Be adventurous, try some foods you’ve never had before!
Happy Spring!

What will happen if a pool comes back positive?
We will follow this process for unconfirmed or confirmed positive cases:
If by chance a pool comes back positive, we will notify the staff and the families of those students in the pool that there is an unconfirmed positive case.
Students/staff in the pool will be asked to monitor for symptoms and will be tested two days later.
After the follow-up testing, those in the pool will be notified of either the negative or positive result.
The person who tested positive will be asked to isolate and close contacts will be notified per the procedures we have been following since the start of the pandemic. The Superintendent will also inform the larger community of the positive test result.

8th Grade Transition to LHS
This was the information included last week for 8th graders. Please know that 8th graders were asked to complete this process by today. Hello Eighth Graders and Parents!
Here is some exciting news for our eighth graders! You will have an opportunity to meet with the counselors from Lebanon High School on Tuesday, March 8th here at LMS! They will visit your social studies classes and speak with you about registering for classes for next school year. You will hear about all the different options you have for course selection next year.
Your child will receive a Program of Studies and course planning sheets. There is also an electronic version of the registration instructions, as well. You can go to the LHS website under Students -> Class information -> Incoming Students. Teachers of eighth graders will make recommendations as to which courses are most appropriate for your child next year. If you have any questions/concerns about these recommendations, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to working with our 8th graders on this next step of their journey!

Thank you breakfast for teachers!
We are asking parents to donate any of the following prepackaged items in advance: granola bars, cereal bars, seltzer or soda, nuts, chips, oatmeal packets, cookies, chocolate, tea or k-cups, etc. Donations can be dropped off at the front office or sent in with your children any time between now and Friday, March 25th. Cash or check donations (made out to LMS PTO) can also be accepted at the front office, which we will then use to purchase additional items. (Please put cash or checks in an envelope marked PTO.)
In addition, now that Covid protocols have changed, we can also accept fresh or homemade items on the morning of the 28th as well, such as donuts, pastries, muffins, cookies, fruit, etc. Please bring those items to the office on the morning of the 28th (or on Friday the 25th if you think they will keep).
