Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we settle into the school year, I want to take a moment to share some important updates with you. This is time when we carefully review and level our classrooms with the help of Human Resources. Our decisions are guided by the best interest of our students, ensuring that we maintain balanced numbers in each grade and classroom. We understand that these decisions can be challenging, but please know that our primary focus is always on creating the best possible learning environment for our children.

We truly value your support, patience, and understanding during this process. Your trust is essential to us, and we are committed to keeping the lines of communication open, If you have any concerns or topics you like to discuss, please don't hesitate to reach out.

We've had a great start to the school year, and we're exited about the upcoming events that will provide opportunities for you to visit or participate in school activities. We're looking forward to seeing you and continuing to work together to make this a fantastic year for all our students.

A medida que nos acercamos al año escolar, quiero tomarme un momento para compartir algunas actualizaciones importantes con ustedes. Este es el momento en el que revisamos y nivelamos cuidadosamente nuestras aulas con la ayuda de Recursos Humanos. Nuestras decisiones están guiadas por el mejor interés de nuestros estudiantes, asegurando que mantengamos números equilibrados en cada grado y salón de clases. Entendemos que estas decisiones pueden ser desafiantes, pero sepa que nuestro enfoque principal siempre es crear el mejor ambiente de aprendizaje posible para nuestros hijos.

Dear Parents, We hope you are having a good start of the school year. As you may know already, this year the attendance policy has changed. Absences will have to be reported by scanning the QR code, found in the flyer attached or by email to herrera_notes@episd.org. You will be able to attach Dr. notes to the email or any other document that might be necessary to excuse the absence. If you have any questions feel free to call the school at 915-230-5000.

Estimados padres, Esperamos que estén teniendo un buen comienzo de año escolar. Este año la política de asistencia ha cambiado. Las ausencias deberán reportarse escaneando el código QR que se encuentra en el volante adjunto o por correo electrónico a herrera_notes@episd.org. We have started an Autism Academy. It will take place every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m for the next seven weeks. This is a great source of information for parents and family members of children with this condition. See the flyer attached for more information.

There will be an early release for students on Wednesday, August 21st. At 12:00 pm. Please make arrangements to pick up students on time. Attached is the EPISD calendar for you to stay up to date on important district dates.

We are happy to welcome you back to Wellness Wednesday! Join your children during the physical education class and enjoy some quality time while being active. This activity will take place the last Wednesday of the month.

Hello parents!

Each month we learn about a new value. Our Core Essentials value for August is wisdom. Wisdom is finding out what you should do and doing it. Please check out the August Core Essentials newsletter on Facebook to learn about how you can incorporate learning about patience at home. This month in our counseling lessons we are focusing on setting goals. Students are learning about what goals are and what it means to set and achieve a goal.

First graders are expected to read or listen to 10 books per week.They can read books from home, from school or any book they might be interested in. Reading logs will be checked on Fridays.
