Community Connection

Jayhawk Families,

We are excited to host a district-wide Veterans Day Celebration. Jayhawk Elementary School will be joining us at Jayhawk-Linn, and we are inviting the public to attend as we honor and celebrate our veterans. Our FFA students have taken the lead in organizing this event and have collaborated with JES to include their students as well. We hope community members will be able to join us for this special occasion.

National Convention

Some of the Jayhawk Linn FFA members made the trip to National Convention in Indianapolis last week. They attended sessions focused on the theme “Empower” and listened to inspiring key note speakers. They toured Fair Oaks Dairy and Swine Farm as well as Ozark Fisheries on the way home! Plus a fun night of go karting, mini golf, and arcade games! They had a great time networking with FFA members from across the nation, meeting with Ag Industry Professionals and discovering different aspects of the agricultural industry!

Dairy and Entomology

Congratulations to members who competed at the ECD Entomology and Dairy Cattle Evaluation CDEs. In the Entomology Career Development Event, students answered various questions about insects and identified 50 different specimens. In the Dairy Cattle Evaluation Career Development Event, students worked in teams to evaluate a Holstein Pedigree and sort a keep/cull class. Then they individually evaluated 4 classes of Holstein Cows and gave reasons on their placings.
