Message from Ms. Lahey Message from Ms. Lahey

Greetings Hembree Families!

What a fabulous first week we have had! It has been such a joy to welcome our students back into the building and see the excitement of a new school year. Thank you to all of the parents who joined us during these first few days. We loved seeing you walk your children to class and helping them start the year with confidence.

Morning Carpool Reminders

Beginning Monday, August 10, parents will no longer be able to walk students to their classrooms. To help ensure a safe and efficient arrival process, please:

  • Use the carpool line or drop students off at the front entrance.
  • If you choose to park and walk your child to the building, please use a designated parking space.
  • Avoid double parking in front of the school, as it blocks traffic and creates delays for others.
  • Remember, the lower parking lot has plenty of available spaces.

Please note that the carpool line closes promptly at 7:35 a.m. so that staff can transition to classroom responsibilities. If you arrive after 7:35 a.m., you will need to park in a designated space and walk your child into the building. The late bell rings at 7:40 a.m.

Carpool opens at 7:10 a.m., and arriving early is the best way to avoid congestion and ensure a smooth start to the day.

Thank you for helping us keep our mornings safe, efficient, and stress-free for everyone!

Dismissal Reminders

Our dismissal process has run very smoothly during the first week of school, and we hope it has been a positive experience for your family as well.

If your child needs a transportation change, please email hsestransportation@fultonschools.org before 12:00 p.m. and make sure you receive a confirmation response stating, "Got it."

i-Ready Diagnostic Assessments

We will begin our required diagnostic testing next week. All students in grades K-5 will participate in the i-Ready Diagnostic Assessments.

  • Reading i-Ready Inform: Tuesday, August 11
  • Math i-Ready Inform: Tuesday, August 18

Please review the information below to learn more about these important assessments and how they help us support student learning.

Curriculum Videos

Our teachers have done an excellent job creating curriculum overview videos for families. We encourage you to click the links below to learn more about your child's grade-level curriculum and what to expect this school year.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. I wish you and your family a wonderful, restful weekend, and we look forward to another great week of learning ahead!

Warm Regards,

Nancy Lahey

While it may have a new name, the assessment will maintain its valid, reliable data, easy-to-use reports, and instructional recommendations.

i-Ready Inform assessments include:

  • i-Ready Inform for Reading (formerly the i-Ready Diagnostic for Reading)
  • i-Ready Inform for Mathematics/i-Ready Inform de matemáticas (formerly the i-Ready Diagnostic for Mathematics, English/Spanish)

PTA Dollars at Work PTA Dollars at Work

Our Clinic Assistant, Mrs. Flores, recently requested a professional-grade thermometer like those used in pediatricians’ offices to provide more accurate temperature checks for students. Now, she can start the school year off with some top-notch supplies!

PTA was glad to purchase the thermometer and probe covers through our Teacher & Staff Grants section of our budget.

Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!

Ms. Marzetti
