Happy New Year!

Book taste is like art - completely subjective - everyone thinks they know what's good. And that's true ... but I would be remiss if I did not shout from the rooftops how good these two books are that came in just before break. (A bunch came in, including Manga, Graphic Novels, Romance reads and more!)

First up is Chain Gang All Stars ... this book is one of the best books I've ever read. It's dystopian fiction and takes place in a world where prisoners are given the option to reduce their sentences/get out of jail by participating in Hunger Games-style reality TV that is absolutely gut-wrenching to read about and really calls into question how we treat our fellow humans and what someone's life is worth. If I had to sum it up in one weird sentence, it would be American Gladiator meets Hunger Games, meets Survivor ... and it has heart. You will find yourself cheering these characters on in what is often an impossible situation. Highly, HIGHLY recommend.
