Mathis Elementary
Weekly Parent Update: November 2nd-6th
Dear Mini-Pirate Families,
A big thank you to our parents, ACE program, and local businesses for partnering with us to make our Trunk or Treat such a wonderful success for our Mini Pirates! Your support is truly appreciated.
As we begin our fourth week in the second nine weeks, we encourage our students to continue working hard and giving their best each and every day. With the third nine weeks completed, progress reports will be mailed home this week.
Friendly Reminder: Friday is the last day to purchase tickets for our MES Thanksgiving Luncheon which will be held next week. We hope to see you there!
Thank you for your continued support of Mathis Elementary!

Grade Level Spotlight
Ms. Villarreal's first grade math class worked with partners to compare the efficiency of counting on and making 10 when one addend is 8. Students used linking cubes to show each addend using a ten frame.
Coach Barrera's PE classes had a great time practicing their bowling skills in PE. They focused on using an underhand roll, stepping with the opposite foot, and aiming at a target while building coordination, balance, and teamwork.
Teacher Spotlight
Our Staff Spotlight is Mrs. Gonzalez, who teaches 1st Grade Foundational Skills and Knowledge. Thank you for your dedication and everything you do each day to support our students. We appreciate you!

Arriving early and on time gives students time to enjoy breakfast with friends and ensures they don't miss valuable morning instruction. Many grade levels begin the day with intervention and enrichment, providing extra support to reteach important skills and strength learning.
