LMS Friends,
We have had a fantastic start to the 2021-2022 school year!
Our students and staff are finally getting into a rhythm. It takes us time to get things up and running, but we thank you for your patience as we learn and relearn all of our routines.
Over the last week, we have been able to start getting some photos of what is happening inside our building and get back to some social media posting. We also had our first fire drill. In other news, we had our friends from Sweethearts and Heroes join us virtually this week. We have included more detail below.
Next week is picture day on Monday. We will also be having our annual life and safety inspection of our building next week. Finally, a number of our co-curriculars will get up and running as well. Please see below for more details on picture day, co-curricular sign-ups and a variety of other news and information from around LMS.
Enjoy this week's Scoop! Have a great weekend!
Regards,
John P. D'Entremont, Principal
Sweethearts & Heroes
Our 5th and 6th graders were able to participate in a virtual assembly along with their advisors.
Our 7th and 8th graders were able to work on circles and communicating with each other in circles both with taking perspectives and also facing adversity.
Our staff also joined their advisories and some even worked with our presenters in small groups. It was a resounding success.

Morning Arrival and Drop-Off Adjustments
Each year, drop off poses its own unique set of challenges. The first day is always the most difficult. After that, each day gets smoother and smoother.
We have already made adjustments and an administrator has been coming out getting students out of cars at 7:15AM. This still hasn't solved some of the morning dilemmas. Our staff does not start their work day until 7:20 AM, and we do not have the staff for students to be dropped off earlier.
We are looking at the daily schedule and may be making some more adjustments. Stay tuned if we do make any adjustments!
Thank you for reminding your students to be ready to exit the car once you enter the drop off loop. This keeps the traffic running smoothly. Always pull as far forward as you can and students can get out anywhere along the sidewalk.
We will keep working on improving our systems to get better.
Dismissal (PikMyKid)
If students have permission to ride a bus, then you have access to change your child's dismissal to that bus or to car or walker or after school programs each day. If plans change, you need to change the plans in the app for your child.
Bus questions or need permission to ride a bus - please call Paula Harthan at the Transportation Office at 603-298-0832 or pharthan@sau88.net.

Another Way to Get to School
A big thank you to the City Manager Shaun Mulholland and the Lebanon City Staff who made this trail possible! We hope you enjoy it and check it out soon!

Latest Update by Nancy Pageau
We’re off and running! Week 2 complete!
Does your child use an inhaler or Epipen for their allergies or asthma?
I am missing many of these emergency medications that were provided to me last year. Please provide emergency medications to me along with an updated allergy or asthma plan and medication permission forms that are signed by the prescribing MD and parent (digital forms are found on the SAU health website or paper forms are in the nurse's office). These plans and medication permission forms need to be in place, and the nurse informed, for any students who will be carrying their own inhalers or Epipens at school as well.
I am still in need of many physicals and updated immunization records for this school year. You can provide them to me by email npageau@sau88.net, or fax 603-448-3899. There are 70- 7th grade families who have not provided proof of the required Tdap vaccine . This vaccine is required for your child to attend school. If your child has already had the vaccine please provide proof, or schedule an appointment to get the vaccine if they have not had it. You will be hearing from me soon if you are one of these families!
***We will be having a student flu clinic in late October. More information will be coming.
Covid Information:
I have tested positive for Covid, what do I do? Can my kids come to school??
What To Do If You Were Exposed To COVID-19
Guidance on what to do if exposed to COVID-19
Self-Quarantine Guide for Unvaccinated Household Contacts.pdf
Self-Observation Guide for Individuals Exposed, But Not Required to Quarantine.pdf
While we are no longer quarantining an entire classroom when someone tests positive (due to our mitigation measures of mask wearing, distancing and hand hygiene), we do still need to quarantine household members who are not vaccinated when someone tests positive in a home. All others who have been exposed to covid (vaccinated household members and non household close contacts) will monitor themselves for symptoms for 14 days. It is recommended that you test 3-5 days after exposure(even if you do not have symptoms) and/or if you develop any symptoms.
Please keep the nurse in the loop if your child is being tested for covid.
I know there is a lot of information coming at you. Know that if I’m calling or emailing you, it is for something I need to know about your child that will help them access their education or make their school day go smoother. It is very important that we have a way to reach you. Please make sure the school has the correct phone numbers/email and update them as needed.
As always, it’s best to speak with me directly regarding any health issues for your child.

Welcome Back!
The LMS School Counselors want to take a moment to say “Welcome Back To School”! It is so nice to see everyone back in-person and we look forward to getting to know all our students this year! Everyone seems to be adjusting well and getting back into their school routines. Ms. Allard and Ms. Stockwell have been meeting with students individually and in classes to introduce themselves and become a familiar face for everyone. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to working with all of our students and families this year!
Ms. Carolynn Stockwell (5th/6th grade counselor)
Ms. Stephanie Allard (7th/8th grade counselor)
LMS Student Assistance Program
The Student Assistance Program at LMS is designed to make the home to school connection and help families identify and obtain the resources necessary for their student to access their education. Ms. Elena VanZandt is the LMS SAP and is a licensed mental health and substance abuse counselor. She works with students and families with a focus on issues including alcohol, tobacco, drugs, as well as issues of diversity and mental health.
The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) is to help students overcome barriers so they may achieve, advance, and remain in school. While Student Assistance Programs exist in other areas of the country, the structure and operation of the program at LMS is a unique expression of an integrated model known here as the Mental Health Team.
Access to the LMS SAP is by referral through our School Counselors and the Mental Health Team. Ms. VanZandt is very excited to welcome returning students and meet the new members of our school community.

LMS Football Battles Hard Versus Hanover
In front of a spirited crowd at Emmerton Memorial Field on Wednesday, the LMS Football squad hosted rival Hanover. Unfortunately, Hanover had the upper hand at the final buzzer, but the Raiders played hard all the way until the end of the game. Football will be on the road for the next four straight games with stops at Newport, Cardigan Mountain, Fall Mountain and Hanover.
