From the Desk of Our Proud Principal
Good evening, Trojan Families!
This is a message from your proud principal, Mrs. Kinard, and the school leaders at Ferndale Middle School. We strongly encourage you to access the digital version of this announcement, available on our school website and social media. It contains additional important information that you and your students need to know.
I hope this message finds you well and encouraged as we move closer to the final stretch of the school year. We have several exciting events coming up this week and beyond, and I want to keep you in the loop so you can stay informed and plan ahead.
📸 On Monday, April 28th, our 8th graders will take their cap and gown pictures. This is such a special milestone, and we’re excited to capture this moment with them. Please make sure your student is on time and ready to shine!
🎉 Thursday, May 1st is School Principal's Day, and Friday, May 2nd is School Lunch Hero Day. These are wonderful opportunities to celebrate the hard work of our school leaders and the incredible staff who serve our students each day in the cafeteria. A kind word or note from our families means the world!
⚾ On Wednesday, select 6th graders who returned their permission slips will be attending the Greensboro Grasshoppers game. We’re thrilled to give them this opportunity as a reward and memorable experience.
📝 Looking ahead, I want to make sure you’re aware that End-of-Grade (EOG) testing will take place June 2nd–10th. Please mark your calendars and help us ensure students are present, on time, and prepared to do their best.
💃 The 8th Grade Dance will be held on June 6th, and we’re planning a fun and safe evening for our students to celebrate their journey.
🎓 The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will take place on June 11th, following EOG testing and any necessary retesting. We can’t wait to recognize and honor the hard work of our promoting scholars.
🍎 Lastly, Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 5–9. Our staff works incredibly hard, and your words, notes, and thoughtful gestures always bring smiles and encouragement.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our students, our staff, and our school community. We are grateful to partner with you in helping our Trojans finish the year strong!
Congratulation to our Teacher Superstars!

GCS Immigration Response
Every family should know that every child in Guilford County has the Constitutional right to attend school regardless of immigration status. The Guilford County Schools does not request or record information about a student’s immigration status. Federal and state laws protect student information from disclosure to others, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). GCS does not permit non-students, including ICE agents, access to GCS facilities unless they can produce a warrant signed by a federal judge. School administrators will not permit the disclosure of confidential student information without first consulting their attorney to make sure that the information has been properly subject to a federal judge’s warrant.
Families should consult community resources to learn their rights and additional information will be provided to help families access these resources.
