Be Ready for the 2025–2026 Special Education Profile
The 2025–2026 Special Education Profile release is approaching. Each year, districts receive their profiles in two phases, beginning with the December release of indicators that require action. These profiles provide valuable data to help districts monitor performance, ensure compliance, and support continuous improvement in special education.

The Department of Education and Workforce, Office for Exceptional Children issued guidance around lapsed/expired evaluation team reports (ETR). Once a student has been identified as having a disability under the IDEA and the Ohio Operating Standards, that identification remains in effect until the student is formally exited from special education. Therefore, even if an ETR has lapsed, it does not expire. Any subsequent evaluation is considered a reevaluation, not an initial evaluation. Guidance can be found on the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce website here.
