A Message from Principal Woofter
We had a lot of students (and staff!) doing their best Snow Day routines this week! Sadly, it didn't make it past a few white, fluffy snowflakes. Maybe we just need to start our routines a little earlier for next year!
A big thank you to all who enjoyed the Langer's Make a Difference Monday! Archer Glen earned $4,072.34 in proceeds from bowling and shoe rental. We are thankful to our PAC for setting up this amazing opportunity for families to enjoy an outing that also so generously supports our school.
Tomorrow, we will have our Fun Run Spirit Day! Students can wear a crazy hat or design a crazy style for the day. I have had students telling me they have been planning their hair styles for weeks - I don't know whether to be excited or nervous!
Our Archer Glen Talent Show will be held next Thursday and Friday afternoons. Student performers in grades 1-3 will perform on Thursday and student performers in grades 4-5 will go on Friday. Both days, the Talent Show will begin at 1:00 pm. It is fun to see the amazing talent our students have and the courage they have to get up on stage!
We are winding down Trimester 2 which ends on March 6. Remember that students will not come to school on Monday, March 9 so that teachers can prepare progress reports.
There is a lot of important information listed below. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!
Kindly,
Sarah
A Message from our School Resource Officer
As your School Resource Officer, your child’s safety on campus, and on the way to and from school is always my top priority. Please review the following regarding bicycle safety and car seat requirements in the State of Oregon.
Child Car Seat Requirements (ORS 811.210)
- Under 2 years of age: Rear-facing car seat.
- Age 2+ and under 40 lbs: Forward-facing car seat appropriate for age/size.
- Over 40 lbs and under 4'9": Booster seat ensuring proper lap and shoulder belt fit.
- After meeting height/weight requirements OR at age 8: Children may transition to the vehicle’s standard seat and seatbelt.
- In Oregon, no specific law sets a minimum age for front-seat riding, but it’s safest for children to ride in the back until age 13.
- Rear-facing seats must never be placed in the front seat.
Bicycles, E-Bikes & Other Wheeled Devices
- Helmets are required for all children under 16 when using bikes, scooters, skateboards, or rollerblades. Failure to do so can result in a $25 citation issued to you, or your child (age dependent). (ORS 814.485 & 814.600)
- E-bikes and e-scooters are not legal for riders under 16 unless on private property. State legislation is still working to implement specific statutes to address this newer technology
- An e-bike must have working pedals for human propulsion. Without pedals, it is NOT an E-bike. It is considered a moped or motorcycle and must follow different laws. (ORS 801.258)

Results will be available in approximately one week.
Most students will pass the screening.
Families of students who do not pass will receive results via backpack mail.

We are excited to announce Archer Glen's SECOND ANNUAL International Culture Night to celebrate the many diverse cultures that represent who we are as a community. We would be so happy if you would be willing to share with us your heritage and culture! This year the date will be April 14th! Last year, this event was a huge success and many people attended to celebrate our diversity! We would love families to share their culture through craft, food, artifacts, dance, pictures, etc. to enjoy and experience the many wonderful cultures that make up our school! Please return the form sent home in your child's Friday folder if you are interested. Extra forms are also available in the office.
Volunteers Needed for Archer Glen's Carnival, 4/24
Volunteer Background Checks

The background check process can take 7-10 business days, so please allow sufficient processing time if you are planning to volunteer for a specific event.
