FAW Thanksgiving Luncheon

The FAW Thanksgiving Luncheon is this Friday, November 17, 2023. If you have any questions about this event, please reach out to schakhtoura@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our three lunch times (advanced tickets required):

Harris Teeter VIC Rewards Card

Before buying your Thanksgiving Day groceries, be sure that your Harris Teeter VIC card is linked to FAW. (This needs to be relinked every year.) There is no fee to link your card and it takes less than a minute! Just stop by customer service (or ask the cashier at checkout) to add Father Andrew White School and give them the code: 5002. This is a great way to help the school raise money! Not only can families from FAW, but also grandparents, aunts/uncles, and friends link their account, even if they are located out of state.

Our Annual Poinsettia & Wreath Sale to benefit FAW Athletics!

We have an amazing selection of fresh, potted poinsettias in various colors and sizes, wrapped in decorative foil – perfect for gifting or keeping for yourself! Group multiple sizes together for an amazing display. The fresh greenery wreaths are hard to beat! They are large, fully packed with mixed evergreens and make an incredible impact. They also smell amazing! New this year – we have beautiful, potted Christmas Cactus in 4 inch pots and also potted, variegated Cyclamen in pink and red!

We’re happy to offer local delivery to businesses who purchase from us! Please let us know if you’d like to set this up!

Science and History Fair Judges (volunteers) are Needed!

The Father Andrew White School Science & History Fair will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023. We are in need of judges and people to coordinate the children on this day. Students from 5th through 8th grades will be participating. This volunteer opportunity would last from 8:45 - 11:30am. Judges are asked to meet in the gym at 8:45am. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Used Uniform Pop Up Event!

On Friday, December 1st we will have a used uniform pop up event from 3 - 4:30pm in the Gym. Thank you for donating your clean, used uniforms in excellent condition.

Please return your Santa Shop envelopes!

During school hours on Friday, December 8th, our children will be able to experience the joy of choosing their own Christmas presents for family members and pets. This year Santa Shop will be held in the St. Aloysius Church Hall and your children will be able to select from an inventory of pre-purchased gifts for those on their shopping list. Gifts will be set up on tables and displayed by category (Moms, Grandmas, Dads, Grandpas, Brothers, Sisters, and Pets). Your child(ren) should have received a money control envelope where they will be able to list the names of the people they are shopping for and how many gifts they are buying. Each gift is $3. Please return the envelope with payment for the gifts by Friday, Dec. 1st. Parent volunteers will assist the children during their shopping experience and gifts will come home wrapped and ready to be placed under the tree!! If your child was absent for our school picture day or would like to retake his/her picture, please mark your calendar for our make up day: December 11, 2023. If your child received photos and would like a retake, you must return the Lifetouch packet of pictures in original condition to the photographer on our Picture Makeup Day.

Log Your Volunteer Hours!

Kindly remember to log your volunteer hours today! All FAW families have had accounts created for them, regardless of if you receive the Service Scholarship or not. Only those that receive the Service Scholarship are required to submit their hours; however, it's always nice to see how all of our families volunteer and also to track the amount of hours required to run certain fundraisers. If you did not receive login instructions, please contact the office at office@fatherandrewwhite.org. To view your approved volunteer hours, enter your email address here and click on the link through your email.

NOTE: Chaperoning field trips does not qualify as volunteer hours for fulfillment of the Service Scholarship.

2024-2025 TADS Tuition Assistance Program

Applications for next year’s Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance Program are now available. Families may apply online by logging on to https://adwcatholicschools.org/tuition-assistance/.

On the top toolbar, hover over “TUITION ASSISTANCE” and then click on the “ARCHDIOCESAN TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM” link at the top of the menu. Any families who think they will need tuition assistance for the 2024-2025 school year MUST APPLY THROUGH THIS ADW PROGRAM FIRST, before asking for aid from FAW.

The TADS admissions portal is accessible for the 2024-2025 admissions cycle for all archdiocesan elementary schools.

Okay, let’s say your child is sick or they just got injured. Now what? When it comes to knowing the right course of action, it is helpful to use a decision tree. The first question when your child wakes up sick, is whether or not to keep them home that day. For specific guidelines related to this, you can visit the nurse page on the school website, consult the parent/student handbook, or call the school (I’m always happy to talk to you!). If it is the day after being sent home from school, remember children must not have had any fever, vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before they can return. If it has been three days or more that they have been out due to illness, they need to have a “doctor’s note” upon return. Knowing this can help in your decision of whether or not to take them to the doctor. Other options for care include virtual appointments, urgent care centers and emergency rooms. Often a simple phone call can help you decide where to go. Trust your instincts in knowing how sick your child appears to be, and when in doubt, make a call. Be prepared beforehand by having answers to questions you anticipate being asked, and have your own questions prepared, as well.
