Join the 2024-2025 School Health Advisory Council!
The Gainesville ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group of dedicated individuals representing segments of the community, to provide advice to the district on coordinated school health programming and its impact on student health and learning. The SHAC assists the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the district's health education instruction.
The SHAC will meet four times throughout the year: September 19, October 24, February 20, March 27. All meetings will be held at the administration building from 5:30 - 6:30 pm.
To join the 2024-2025 SHAC, please complete this >>>google form>>>
SHACs provide an efficient, effective structure for recommending age-appropriate, sequential health education programs, and early intervention and prevention strategies that can easily be supported by local families and community stakeholders. Every independent school district is required by law to have a SHAC. The majority of members must be parents who are not employees of the GISD. All parents are invited to attend the SHAC meetings.
🚧Traffic Alert! 🚧
Please see the notice from TxDOT regarding the I-35 bridge demolition scheduled for Sunday night. The affected bridge is on the south side of GHS and connects northbound traffic to 1306 that runs on the west side of GHS. This means anyone coming from Sanger traveling to GHS will have to exit 51/California to get to the high school. Traffic leaving GHS heading south will have to take 51/California in order to get on southbound I-35.
Join the Parent Advisory Committee!
Dr. Stewart would like to invite our GISD parents and guardians to join the 2024-2025 Parent Advisory Committee (P.A.C.). We recognize that parental involvement is one of the cornerstones of a thriving educational community. The P.A.C. provides a platform for parents like YOU to contribute to the shaping of the future of GISD. Your insights, perspectives, and ideas are invaluable as we navigate the exciting challenges and opportunities that come with a growing city and school district.
There are four meetings scheduled for the year: October 9, December 11, February 12, April 9. All meetings are held from 5:30 - 7pm. Each meeting will cover a variety of topics and will give you the opportunity to discuss important topics within GISD and public education.
We hope you can join us! Our goal is to have 100 people attend! Please consider coming to share YOUR voice!

Give a Leopard High Five!
The Leopard High Five staff recognition program is officially open for the school year. The program is a way to recognize any Gainesville ISD employee who goes above and beyond. Nominations are accepted from any staff, parent, or community member and all GISD employees are eligible to be nominated.
Nominations should include a specific example of how this staff member has gone above and beyond for a student, a peer, or the community. Generic nominations will not be considered. The more information/detail the better! The nomination must align with one or more of our GISD core beliefs: Equity, Excellence, Diversity, Innovation, Partnership, Safe and Comfortable Environment.
Nominate any GISD staff member for a High Five https://bit.ly/LeopardHighFive
Let's celebrate!
We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Gainesville Leopards football team! The first to make it to State! If you know any of these athletes or coaches, please help spread the word! They will be honored at the October 11th varsity football game at Leopard Stadium. Please share this google form with them so we can contact them with further details.
