Center for Safer Schools Video & Say Something Reporting System
In accordance with North Carolina House Bill 142, all students in grades 6-12 are required to view specific videos on abuse and neglect as part of the Protecting Our Students Act. These videos were developed by the NC Center for Safer Schools and the required portion will be viewed by our students in grades 6-12. Parents can access these video clips on the Moore County Schools Website under the NC Center for Safer Schools announcement. Videos will be shown to students on Thursday, September 17th. Please email codriguez@ncmcs.org or call the school at 910-248-2421 if you would like your child to opt out of the presentation.
Students in Moore County Schools also receive information about the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. The Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS) is a program designed to provide a secure and confidential way for individuals to report concerning or threatening behavior to help prevent violence, suicide, bullying, and self-harm in schools. It utilizes a mobile app, website, and 24/7 phone hotline for anonymous reporting. Trained crisis counselors at the Sandy Hook Promise National Crisis Center assess and triage tips, then forward them to school officials and/or law enforcement as needed. More information about training coming soon.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Rodriguez at crodriguez@ncmcs.org or call Elise MS at 910-948-2421.

Elise MS Title 1 Right to Know Letter
9/13/2026
Dear Parent,
The federal No Child Left Behind law requires school districts to notify parents of children attending a Title I school of their right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers and assistants who instruct their child.
As a recipient of these funds Moore County Schools will provide you with this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to request the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:
Whether the teacher meets the state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grades and core academic subjects he or she teaches.
Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status because of special circumstances.
The teacher’s college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.
Whether teacher assistants provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications.
In addition, the law requires that all schools that receive Title I funds must provide notification to every parent in the school whose child is being taught for four or more weeks by a teacher who is not “Highly Qualified,” regardless of whether or not the teacher is being paid with Title I funds,
Moore County Schools is committed to providing quality instruction for all students and does so by employing the most qualified individuals to teach and support each student in the classroom. If you would like to receive any of the information listed above for your child’s teacher, please write or call for a Teacher/Teacher Assistant Information Request Form.

Estimado padre/madre:

MCS America 250 Weekly Message
This is your weekly
Declaration Spotlight, celebrating 250 years of American Independence.
As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this week
we’re focusing on the power of the words in this historic document — and the big ideas
they represent.
The Declaration tells us that all people have the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness. But what does “Pursuit of Happiness” really mean?
For the Founders, it meant having the freedom to follow your dreams, use your talents,
and make your own choices to build a meaningful life without unfair limits placed on you.
Today, it can mean discovering your talents, working toward your goals, and choosing your
own path.
The Declaration also says these are unalienable rights. An unalienable right is a right that
cannot be taken away. It doesn’t come from a king or a government — it belongs to you
simply because you are you.
The Declaration of Independence is more than just words on paper — it is a bold statement of
hope and freedom. Its message has inspired generations of Americans and people around the
world who believe in equality and opportunity.
As we reflect on 250 years of independence as a nation, let’s think about how these
powerful words still matter and guide us today. Each of us has the opportunity — and the
responsibility — to respect the rights of others and contribute positively to our community
and country.
Have a thoughtful and inspiring week!
