A huge congratulations to Mr. Marty Graham for being named one of Horry County Schools’ Top 5 Finalists for Support Staff of the Year this morning! We even had a surprise visit from Superintendent Cliff Jones and members of the HCS Human Resources and Communications Team to celebrate this special recognition.

Mr. Graham now joins Mrs. Christina Hackett (2026 Top 5 Finalist) and Mr. Walt Nichols (2019 HCS Support Staff of the Year) as the third Ten Oaks honoree to receive this distinction.

As a Mod–Severe Special Education Paraprofessional, Mr. Graham serves our students with incredible love, care, service, and dedication. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every student feels valued, supported, and capable of success. He is also a tremendous teammate who works exceptionally well with his colleagues.

Mr. Graham, we are incredibly proud of you and honored to have you represent Ten Oaks Middle School at the district level this spring. Your kindness, humility, and dedication truly embody what it means to be a Silver Fox and reflect the core values of Horry County Schools.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! You are shining bright, and we are all pulling for you! Success-Nothing Less!

Congratulations to our TOMS Staff Member of the Week, Mrs. Catherine Paske!

She was nominated by Ms. Leslie Rich.

Mrs. Paske is a Visual ArtsTeacher at TOMS and has been teaching here for 5 years.

My favorite memory of middle school was going to my favorite class -- orchestra! And it just so happens I was taught by Mr. Hammer's mother!

My advice to my middle school self would be... learn a second language when you are young!

We are so proud of this year’s Festival Orchestra from Ten Oaks Middle School for earning a rating of Excellent at the SCMEA Concert Performance Assessment!

This was the largest orchestra Ten Oaks has ever brought to CPA—no small feat for Director Mr. Chad Hammer! From combining two 7th grade groups into one 8th grade mega ensemble, to juggling Saturday and after-school rehearsals, to working across a wide range of skill levels… this group took on every challenge with determination and heart.

And the most incredible part? Today was the very first time all of these students performed together on stage—and they absolutely rose to the occasion. What a remarkable job!

A huge thank you to Mr. Chad Hammer for always putting his students first, to Walt Nichols for safely transporting this amazing crew, and to our Silver Fox family at TOMS for the constant support of our program. And of course, endless appreciation to “Momma Auman” for her guidance this year and always!

Our amazing Yearbook Staff, with the support of our incredible Yearbook Advisor Ms. Teah Grant, have already been recognized for their hard work in completing this year’s yearbook! We are proud to share that we have been awarded Silver Yearbook status! This recognition comes from meeting all deadlines and featuring at least 50% of our school community three or more times throughout the yearbook. What an accomplishment for our talented team! There’s even more to celebrate—if we sell out in May, we will earn GOLD Yearbook status! We are so proud of our students and thankful for Ms. Grant’s leadership in guiding this outstanding group. We can’t wait until the yearbooks arrive!

Ten leaders from the TOMS Student Council spent the weekend in North Charleston growing as leaders at the SCSCA State Conference! Throughout the weekend they focused on reaching up, reaching out, and reaching down while learning how to make a lasting impact in their school and community.

The TOMS and the CF Cluster represented HCS with pride and wrapped up the conference with a banquet and formal dance after a full weekend of leadership sessions and hard work.

They’re already excited to return to next year’s SCSCA Conference and can’t wait to bring fresh ideas, inspiration, and leadership back to the TOMS school community!

Thank you to Mrs. Ashley Klopfer our chaperoning and planning such a meaningful weekend for our silver foxes!

We have officially kicked off Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association, and we need your help! We have until the end of March where students will be learning about heart health, helping others, and working to complete Finn’s Mission to become a lifesaver.

HERE’S HOW TO HELP:

Step 1: Sign Up Here: https://www2.heart.org/.../SPageNav.../ym_school_search.html

Step 2: Consider making a personal donation and be sure to share with friends and family through social media, text, or email.

Step 3: Complete Finn’s Mission by completing all the “steps” by clicking on the stepping-stone images to help your student earn the coveted lifesaver cape!

We’d love to see every student family learn the lifesaving skills of Hands-Only CPR and the warning signs of a stroke by signing up online and completing all 8-steps of Finn’s Mission.

Why we support the American Heart Association: When cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital, bystanders only respond 40% of the time. 75% of cardiac arrests occur in the home. Providing Hands-Only CPR immediately can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.

In addition, our school earns givebacks that support our teachers, students, and our Physical Education department.

Thank you for joining us and helping our school community become lifesavers!

Dear TOMS Parents/Guardians,

In an effort to minimize classroom disruptions and maintain a focused learning environment, we are implementing a few new procedures effective immediately:

Lunch Drop-Offs

If a student’s lunch is dropped off at the front office, it will be placed on a designated cart near the security desk.

Students will not be called out of class to pick up their lunch.

Please remind your child to check the cart if they realize they do not have their lunch.

Other Item Drop-Offs

If other items (e.g., forgotten computers, books, clothing, etc.) are delivered for a student, an email will be sent to the teacher of the class the student is currently attending.

Teachers will check their email regularly throughout the day so students can receive their items in a timely manner.

Changes in Dismissal

Any changes to your child’s transportation home should be communicated prior to your student arriving at school.

Dismissal changes cannot be made over the phone after 2:00 PM to allow sufficient time to notify both the teacher and student.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Boys With a Purpose Club is starting at TOMS!

Boys With a Purpose is more than a mentoring club — it’s a movement dedicated to encouraging young men to be their very best.

We teach practical life skills like:

How to tie a tie

Dressing for the occasion

Proper manners & etiquette

Character development

Confidence & leadership

Our goal is to positively mentor young men, build strong character, and help them truly believe that They Have a Purpose. When young men know their value, they move differently. They lead differently. They live differently.
